Few incoming freshmen know how to write. Period.

I haven’t worn a wristwatch for over 10 years.

I might would wear one as a status symbol or fashion accessory.

But I’m a guy. Not into that metrosexual stuff.

When I entered college, I was writing programs on cards.

A useful skill, it taught me to type carefully.

Here some stuff the Class of 2014 will experience.

1. Owe $300,000 as their share of National Debt.
2. Experience long term unemployment.
3. See America slip to 2nd place economically to China.
4. Have a lower standard of living compare to their parents.
5. Depend on the Government for livelihood and wellbeing.
6. Never be able to own a house.

Thanks Obama!

For example, maybe it's no big deal if college freshmen misspell words when they text

This is a big deal sorry. I can't stand getting text messages with poor spelling.

I have seven wristwatches (two are reliable wind-up, no battery), but no cell phone. I always have the correct time on me.

19. They never twisted the coiled handset wire aimlessly around their wrists while chatting on the phone.

I really miss doing this. (sigh)

If it wasn’t for my wristwatch, I wouldn’t immediately know the date, day of week, or time.

You see this watch?...You see this watch?

Yeah.

This watch cost more than your car. I made $970,000 last year...How much did you make? You see, pal, that’s who I am and you’re nothing.

Nice guy? I don’t give a sh*t. Good father? F*CK YOU...GO HOME AND PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS...You want to work here...CLOSE...

That list is mostly lame.

Here’s my non-pretentious version (for just changes over the past 40 years)

#1: Let your kids sit in the way back of a station wagon and w/o seat belts
#2: Riding a bike without a helmet
#3: Pay phones
#4: Leaving a bar smelling like smoke
#5: Watching a TV show when it originally airs
#6: No Internet
#7: No Home Depot
#8: Having to buy 12 sucky songs just to get one good one
#9: Smoking wherever you want
#10: Eating whatever you want

74. They’ve always been able to blast off with the Sci-Fi Channel.

It's been changed to "SyFy" which is copywritable and can't be derisivily called "Sciffy".

Better put me out to pasture since I wear suspenders and carry a 1926 Elgin pocket watch. Don’t have a cell phone either.

Few incoming freshmen know how to write in cursive or have ever worn a wristwatch....

Fewer still will ever understand how the technology they rely on works, and even fewer will be able to take part in extending that technology. Sad but true - most of the engineering graduates I interview these days are foreign students, and some percentage of them will eventually take their expertise and education back to their home countries.

As for wristwatches, no one has "needed" one since mobile phones became common. But no mobile phone will ever look this beautiful:

I thought Dirty Harry was compassionate...to the law-abiding citizen not to the punks who were preying upon society.

For example, we had a maggot named Philip Markoff, the medical student who robbed prostitutes and murdered one of them, commit suicide in the Suffolk County Jail on Sunday. Rather than simply say, “Well, the punk saved the taxpayers of Massholistan the cost of a trial and the cost of keeping him in prison, fed, and in good health,” the idiots around here are wondering if the correction officers could have done something to prevent the suicide. Look for plastic bag liners to be removed from the in-cell trash cans rather than providing draw-string bags in the cells of all who are awaiting trial for murder.

Ever see the way a cat acts when you try to put a collar on it?

A wristwatch has the same effect on me. I can’t wait to get it off.
