Port Authority Police investigators have made their way through a good portion of the 109 passengers on the flight that landed at John F. Kennedy International, according to a law-enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. No one interviewed by the police thus far has reported having seen the incident Mr. Slater claims caused the cut, the official said, and the investigators haven't been able to identify the passenger Mr. Slater said was at the center of the incident.

A matter of concern re the bloody cut would be Slater's HIV+ status, if true.

Some random thoughts:

1. From personal experience (struck in the eyebrow by a shard of cast iron)lacerations to the face bleed PROFUSELY (as in stream, not drips).

2 Scalp lacerations — same (personal experience).

3 This leads me to the conclusion that the wound in question was very shallow — a scratch.

The words “AIDS Dementia” keep repeating in my mind.
