Is Glenn Beck a gay marriage advocate? Beck, a convert to Mormonism, weighed in on the Proposition 8 ruling on the O'Reilly Factor Wednesday night, saying that he does not think the government "has anything to do with marriage. That is a religious rite." From the segment: O'Reilly: Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to country in any way? Beck: A threat to the country? O'Reilly: Yeah, is it going to harm it in anyway? Beck: No I don't. Will the gays come and get us? O'Reilly: No, okay. Is it going to harm the country? Beck: I believe that Thomas Jefferson said: "If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket what difference is it to me?

Thats like saying if you aren't an African American, you aren't American.
Gays molest and infest the human biology all of the time. Who knows how many families were stricken by the sick governor of New Jersey as he went out to public restrooms to find anyone at all that he could infest.
You are totally ignorant if you think that homosexuality is not a threat to our children and to all people in the sense that its promotion accepts bi-sexuality as well whereas this corruption will have many innocent victims who are infected by a spouse who falls for the sick promotion of it by the left-wing.
The gay agenda is simply a furhter promotion of all perversity. It started with the sixties counter-culture Marxist movement for free sex and love and is know about to attack us again with further calls for a right to perversion.
I like Glenn but I’ve lost some respect for him. All these issues are tied together. You can’t support the right to life and then turn a blind eye to liberals murdering infants just because it’s inconvenient. The homosexuals control a lot of media and are ruthless in their attacks (look at what they did to Dr. Laura). I would rather see Glenn stand up to them then cave in for some reason. Does Glenn really believe that changing the fundamental definition of marriage won’t have a HUGE impact on destroying our culture and harming innocent kids?
Just a religious issue eh Beck? I guess we should go back to the old Crusade days and wage war on those attempting to subvert our most sacred sacraments then.
Beck is an idiot.
Only if you ask for it's permission, and it shouldn't have anything to do with marriage. Not if you think marriage is a sacrament. What other sacrament requires a license from the state?
In contrast to Beck’s cowardice, Rush made some superb comments against the sodomite judge Vaughn Walker’s judicial activism. Rush is not afraid to say the truth regardless of the consequences.
“If youre not a social conservative, then youre not a conservative.”
BS
Incidentally Glenn, and all, it's homosexual marriage, not “gay” marriage. Dump the politically correct brainwashing by the liberals and MSM, thank you very much!!
I’ve never heard of any state or the federal gov. prosecuting any common law couples for not filing their taxes as “married”.
Look at what “common law” actually is; its a presumption of that certain oral contracts have been made and are binding. The law does the same thing with parents and adult children when their is a lack of documentation to the contrary.
Why in the world should the state get a say on whether two adults get married, and if they do have a say, shouldn’t the state also penalize those people if they live together without being married. What we have now is illogical and irreligious.
“Would you be married if the state refused to give you a license, but you got married in the church without it?”
My sweetie & I have lived together since ‘97. He’d been married 4 times before; I never have. I’ve always assumed we would be treated as ‘common law’ husband & wife if any issue ever came up. We have therefore avoided the license & the penalty with the same result before the law.
I think the judge’s ruling was wrong, simply because we’ve limited what comprises marriage before, when Mormons were prohibited from taking multiple wives. Why should things change now? I do have gay friends who want to be married, but a civil union or a domestic partnership agreement should be more than sufficient these days. And even they admit that gay relationships are very tenuous. Most of their friends have not been able to sustain a long-term relationship. Just more work for divorce lawyers, if you ask me.
Exactly where Beck was going if the bloviator had let him get a word in edgewise.
You made some really good points. Shucks we could even go back to jumping the broomstick, but what ever then, would lawyers find to do.
It used to be illegal to cohabitate without a marriage license. They would arrest you. That made having a marriage license make sense. A Mormon can now have as many women in his bed as they all agree to without any risk of jail, just as long as he "doesn't" get a license. That is illogical.
What other act requires a license, but is perfectly legal if you don't get the license????
Full blown Libertarians do not appreciate Beck's dependance on Christianity, lately he has been evangelizing, and 8-28 is going to be a big revival meeting.
His Mormonism, is a mystery to me, but I believe he came to Christ first, no clue why he felt moved, to move on.
“No, youre just not a social conservative.”
The social order has been part and parcel of conservative thinking since there’s been a conservative movement. From Russell Kirk to W. F. Buckley to Ronald Reagan... if you’re not a social conservative, then you’re just another Libertarian.
The above message appears to be funded by George Soros. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
I hate seeing these two mentioned in the same breath. Rush combines astute political observations with an extremely entertaining style. That is why Rush has been the conservative spokesman for 2+ decades, ever since Reagan faded off the scene. Beck is nothing but a Rush wannabe and poor one at that.
Correct. But I think that defining state marriage the way that we would like it to be defined is a losing issue. The real answer is for all people to be treated exactly the same by the state, whether or not they are married, have children, are a particular sex/race/stature, etc. There are a few logical exceptions to this, but you get my drift.
Glenn feels that the real reason our country has declined is not the government, but the people that elect the government. He is about changing hearts and minds, which he believes is the only real cure for our constitutional crisis.
He is the only one that put Crime Inc. in the news, no one else has come close to pointing out the corruption that surrounds this White House.
He has seen, as many have the Birther issue as a non sequiter, wrongly in my opinion, but one almost universally accepted.
Notice the attack dogs unleashed on Orley Taiz, on this forum.
Glenn is sort of divided in his feelings on Libertarianism, but Christians really can't accept the total Libertarian package, because in my opinion, libertarianism must give way to perversion.
I think Goldwater was rejected in large part because of his social attitudes, which became abundantly clear as he aged.
Beck made a mistake, imho. I wonder if he now regrets his response?
