NEW YORK, - An insurance company is suing New York City over a $187,000 belt buckle one of their clients claimed was lost while he was locked up in jail last year.
The bejeweled gold buckle belonged to businessman George Bardwil, who said it was not returned to him after he was released from custody following his arrest on charges he assaulted his housekeeper.
Chubb Indemnity Insurance paid off Bardwill and now wants to be reimbursed by the city for allegedly failing to return Bardwill's property as they were duty bound to do, the New York Daily News said Saturday.
Bardwil, CEO of Bardwil Home linen company, received probation in the assault case. He had no comment on the belt-buckle matter.

I bet he was three sheets to the wind when he assaulted the housekeeper.

Chubb should stiffen their claims investigation process by getting Johnny Dollar on the case.
Bart, NB that although Bardwil was likely three sheets to the wind, these Bardwils deal in Table Linens. Perhaps an unsanitary napkin was involved, but I'll leave it up to Johnny Dollar.
The buckle may have come off when he was giving the maid her thrashing. She was a strapping wench, I'm told.
