An internal memo from JetBlues chief operating officer to the airlines staff and board of directors explicitly rebukes the actions taken by flight attendant Steven Slater as unacceptable.
The document, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, offers the first timeline of events following Mondays now-famous airplane exit by Slater, in which the apparently enraged flight attendant uttered expletives over the public address system, deployed the emergency chute and slid down to the tarmac with two beers in hand.
But the memo also reveals that even at the highest levels of JetBlue, officials are still trying to determine what exactly happened before Slater deployed the chute.
In the memo, JetBlue COO Rob Maruster concedes that Slaters story about what led to his unusual departure has not been corroborated.
...According to the memo, JetBlue is cooperating with a Port Authority police probe and is conducting their own investigation to find the alleged passenger who sparked Slaters outburst. Still, Maruster wrote, even if company officials find there was a precipitating event that motivated his behavior, that still doesnt excuse his actions.

I certainly thought he was an angel!
Ironic thing was, he was a Guatemalan — and we were in a country where the citizens GREATLY looked down upon Guatemalans. I mean, really racist towards them.
Yet, God used that Guatemalan man to save lives. I believe had he not stepped up (literally) and intervened the entire cabin would have broken into wailing and chaos — and no one would known what to do or been able to calmly follow instructions to “remove your eyeglasses” and “grasp your knees,” etc. And all he knew to do was calmly read from the emergency brochure!
It didn’t matter to him that this country treated him with such a racist attitude. He showed leadership, courage and, yes, love.
Rebuked? Jet Blue didn’t fire him? No wonder the economy sucks.
