Multiple media and network television sources confirmed to me Thursday that Keith Olbermann will not appear on NBCs Football Night In America Sunday evening NFL broadcasts this season. Some members of the FNIA cast and crew were made aware of the news Tuesday at a preseason production meeting in New York City. Afterwards, the cast and crew adjourned to Yankee Stadium to watch the Yankees-Blue Jays game.

Same here. Football on NBC last year was a non-event for me, on the off chance that this jerkwad -might- be on. Flipping it on was never even a consideration.

I would never watch because of him... Likewise when they cut to ANY woman during the game, I hit the mute switch. I’m not a sexist. I’m ok with women in almost any other context; just want to keep my football a guy thing.

It’s a start.
Most of that crew isn’t worth a good goddamn. The show’s largely unwatchable.
Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison are worthwhile, IMHO.

Now, if only they could remove the title from the program, I might be tempted to watch.
Football Night In America is tacky and corny and stupid.
Why not just a simple “Sunday Night Football”?

Why not just a simple "Sunday Night Football?"Because NBC was trying to play off of "Hockey Night In Canada."
Canada stops for HNIC -- oops, Hockey Night In Canada -- so NBC wanted America to stop in a similar fashion for FNIA -- oops, Football Night in America.

...when they cut to ANY woman during the game, I hit the mute switch. I'm with you on that.
I love women, and give them the respect and space they deserve in all things within the female dominion, but it's irritating to me that every broadcaster now finds it essential to have female sports reporters involved with male-only sports.

Now maybe I’ll watch. I e-mailed NBC last year and told them I would boycott Olbie.
To: C19fan
Good. I won’t watch anything with overbite on it.

"Not sure how reliable this guy is but I refuse to watch the NBC pre-game show while Olbermann is on it." Amen FRiend!!
NBC had to notice all the TV's changing channels whenever that jackwad came on the screen.
I shut the TV off or changed the channel EVERY time I saw that freakjob on TV, and I know plenty of other people who did the same thing.

I can’t remember which network, but they used to have the woman reporter’s name up on the graphics for as long as she was talking; so I could hit the mute, and then put the speakers back on when her name was gone. Problem solved!
