Did WorldNetDaily just now find out that Kagan was Solicitor General? They’re getting a bit behind the curve.

The United States Solicitor General is the person appointed to represent the Government of the United States before the Supreme Court of the United States. Currently[update], the Solicitor General is Elena Kagan, who was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 19, 2009. The Principal Deputy, Neal Katyal, is currently serving as Acting Solicitor General.[1]

Yes, you are correct, and it seems logical for her name to be on those cases. But it also gives a very good reason for a reasonable person to conclude the appointment to the Supreme Court is "pay back" for services rendered.
