City police had little difficulty identifying a suspect in a weekend strong-arm robbery in downtown Scranton.
He dropped his wallet while running away.
David J. Ayre II, 22, of Tunkhannock, faces charges of robbery and receiving stolen property after the incident early Sunday in the 300 block of Mulberry Street, police said.
According to police, two women were walking on Mulberry near Penn Avenue about 1:40 a.m. when they noticed a man later identified as Mr. Ayre following them. The man asked them if they wanted to make $50, and the women replied "no" and kept walking.
The suspect then grabbed one woman by the hair, jerking her head back, and thrust his hand into her purse. When the other woman hit him with a shoe, the man started counting the blows and barking, police said.
After taking money from the purse, the man fled but dropped his wallet on the ground in front of the women as he ran east on Mulberry.
Mr. Ayre was taken into custody minutes later on Forest Court, two blocks away, police said. Both women identified him as the robber, and his photo identification was found in the dropped wallet.
Mr. Ayre had $300 in his shirt pocket and $36 in his pants pocket at the time of his arrest, police said.
This woman needs some instruction on how and where to hit.
Instead of barking like a dog, he’ll probably soon be squealing like a pig. oink!
Yeah, a ‘stuck’ pig.
