A friend of Bobby Hebb ("Sunny") mentioned Hebb's passing today on Facebook. Joe Viglione: " R.I.P. Bobby Hebb. We lost Bobby at 10:50 AM Central Time this morning. I'm in a state of shockBobby One So True, We'll always love you.
July 26, 1938 - August 3, 2010 ...Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain. The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here, My Sunny one shines so sincere."
“Sunny”. Supposedly the song was written after Hebb’s
brother died. Wikipedia: “On 23 November 1963, the day after John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Harold Hebb was killed in a knife fight outside a Nashville nightclub. Hebb was devastated by both events and sought comfort in songwriting.”

Great tune. Here's jazz guitarist Pat Martino's amazing improvisation on it:
(Of course, all his improvisations are amazing.)
RIP.

I think ‘Sunny’ is one of the first records I ever bought.
Joe was a close business associate of Bobby’s and had been helping him in many ways.
Yes and Joe set up an int. with Bobby that was done via phone at the college radio station where I volunteer. (Someone else
did int.)
Nashville Cream:
Songwriter Bobby Hebb Dead at 72
Legendary Nashvillian singer and songwriter Bobby Hebb passed away this morning at Centennial Medical Center; he was 72 years old. Hebb, who got his start at the age of 3 performing in a song-and-dance outfit with his older brother, has a long and impressive list of accomplishments being one of the first African-Americans to perform at The Grand Ole Opry and penning the tune “Sunny” among them. “Sunny” is one of the most-covered pop songs in history, and was included on BMI’s Top 100 Songs of the Century at No. 25. Back in 2000, Jonathan Marx wrote this retrospective on “Sunny” and Hebb’s career for us. We’ll have a longer piece on Hebb in next week’s glossy, but for now you can see other Hebb-related Scene pieces (at this
site)

Pretty much everything from Wes Montgomery is excellent.
