I have the Life Magazine spread of this wedding, don’t know why I saved it!! but the pictures were beautiful...
Times have really changed...
I have NEVER seen these photos of Amy Carter. Until a couple of months ago, I didn’t even know she was married. Rosalynn was a hairdresser in her early career, and it is a shame mom didn’t do something with Amy’s hair and talk her into ditching the heavy rimmed glasses for the day. She’s really not bad looking, but those parents seemed to work at making her homely.
Sorry but even the inner beauty that shines forth from every bride on her day passed by poor Amy. She is homely even as a bride.

I thought this was the prettiest bride/groom picture. I kept a version of it as my computer screen wall paper for a number of years until people at the office kept asking me if that was my daughter. LOL.
I’ve thought Margaret Truman was perhaps the homeliest president’s daughter until I scrolled down to Amy Carter. I’m going to have to wait for lunch, now.
I remember watching the Tricia Nixon wedding on TV and thinking it was the most elegant thing. I was only 15.
I gasped when I saw Margaret Truman. Her dress is very much like mine except mine had full length sleeves with the point extending down my hand and the neckline was a “Sabrina” boat extending shoulder to shoulder. Looks very simple and modest compared to what the girls are buying now. But, it was appropriate for a morning wedding and appropriate for the time too. Nobody went into debt for weddings then like they do now.
Amy Carter always reminded me of Sissy Spacek in the horror movie “Carrie”. They could pass for twins.
