Politicians: they make the law but are never held to the law

Exactly. Not much has changed from the days of feudal kingdoms, has it? I can't really see how the lifestyles, wealth, power, and privileges of our modern-day political elite are materially any different from royalty in the era of Henry VIII.

We're kidding ourselves if we think we are governed by public servants who represent us with the ideal of "of the people, by the people, for the people". Maybe that's how our country was intended and functioned for a while, but now we've reverted back to the exact same sort of subjugation to royalty that we originally fought a war to escape from.

In keeping with your brilliant insight. The dispensation came too late for the Duke of Diddly Squat to be invited to the royal wedding - uniting the Houses of Humbug and Badstuff.
