The agents confiscated the three devices, but allowed Fermanova to board her scheduled flight, according to the affidavit. She returned to the U.S. and was arrested July 15 on a warrant signed by a federal magistrate in Brooklyn.

Cute, but not very smart. She gets caught spying, but get out of the country because the feds bumbling idiots. And then she comes back! She had to know she had been burned, and when your burned you keep running and don't look back.

From reading the story I’d be inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. During the Cold War era, Russians who were allowed to travel abroad routinely smuggled back goodies to supplement their incomes.

Surely the SVR would be able to purchase and smuggle stuff like this on a larger scale.

Now that things have changed. The only stuff that could be smuggled back to Russia profitably would be stuff that it is illegal to transport.

Hey, she needs something to supplement her nail-filing income.

Funny. It’s like her handlers wanted her to get caught.

The technology could easily have been assayed and documented in the US. The units themselves, easily exported offshore, secretly, south of the border.

Smells real funny....

Gee, she looks like Chris Moltisanti’s girlfriend Adriana La Cerva. Where is Silvo Dante?

I work in Plano, TX.

I should stop by her parent's house at lunch and see how she's holding up... I can cheer her up by taking her to Fillmore Pub [grab a few pints of Smithwick's or Boddington's beer] or Urban Crust [for some pizza] in old downtown Plano. :-)
