*Night Vision ping*
So this is the model you recommend? Have you personally used it?? This is about the top of the price range for me. Thank you for the link.
Yep, this is why I have told my wife the night-vision is a must have item—two things I want for my B’day and this is one of them..
We have open season on wild pigs and that means any time, day or night is legal to kill them. They destroy property and crops and have on average 8 pigs/litter several times / year.
I already have a fencer, but thanks for the input.
Joe, please make your comments public. All suggestions are appreciated.
Errant, you have uncanny insight.
If money is to be budgeted, then look at the LED red lights featured on the site by Kevin.
*You can also seen vids he took, taking out large pigs he was hired to do using the LED's.
I just might do both. Thanks for the tip.
If he's shooting .223 and at those ranges at night, I don't think neighbors are a problem and most people with real gardens already use an electric fence.
No matter how far away the neighbors are, he still has neighbors. (unless perhaps he lives on an island). Putting up a fence and just letting the varmints live just moves the problem to his neighbors' land.
Around here "real gardens" are several acres and most do not have electric fences.
Controlling damage to large fields from marauding wild hogs is a whole different animal.
I don't dispute that a properly installed fence (extending 12" below ground with an apron to prevent burrowers from getting under it) will protect a garden.
But that still doesn't solve the problem. It just pushes it onto your neighbors property. Controlling damage to large fields from marauding wild hogs is a whole different animal.
Nope. same issue. same solution. Kill all the hogs and the problem goes away.
(Same solution as the illegal invaders problem actually)
Yes.
Have you personally used it??
Yes. They're also still in current use by the U.S. military in the sandbox, making them a bit hard to locate at present. This particular model works off a single AA battery, very available, and available in a rechargable format.
This is about the top of the price range for me. Thank you for the link.
You're welcome. Last I checked [late July] they still had two or three units available. After they go, there'll be a price increase.
Bump ‘cause I need to get some of this stuff, too.
I bought the ATN MAR2-CG for about $2300 from cheaper than dirt. What do you think?
I'm not familiar with that particular scope so I'd love to hear what you think about it after you spend some time with it. Get a boresight laser to speed sighting in at night. That way, you can remove it and store for quick use as a monocular to check things around your place at night.
Congratulations on your purchase!!
Do you have a particular boresight laser in mind. Bass pro has them but I don’t know much about them. I still sight-in the old fashioned way.
I use the scope on several rifles including a .22 airforce air rifle.
This new night vision is really something with the IR illuminator. Thanks for the tip.
