PROVO The former BYU student accused of attacking a woman with a stun gun pleaded guilty Tuesday to a lessened degree of aggravated assault.
Stetson Geo Hallam, 20, had been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, following an April 6 incident that he claimed was an April Fool's joke, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
Charges say Hallam, the victim's home teacher in their LDS Church ward, pressured the 19-year-old woman to meet him so he could "give her a gift."
The woman told police Hallam waited outside her Provo apartment for her to return, then asked her to go to a basement laundry room as part of a scavenger hunt.
Once in the room, Hallam attacked her with a Taser-like weapon, pinned her to the ground and tried to handcuff her, the affidavit states. Despite the electric shock, the woman began screaming and fighting back, and at one point bit Hallam's finger, according to court documents. She later told police she thought Hallam was trying to rape her.
After being bitten, Hallam released the woman, apologized, and said it was just an April Fool's joke, the affidavit states. Police found burn marks on the woman's arm from the weapon and a bite mark on Hallam's hand.
Hallam pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and obstruction of justice, second-degree felonies. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9 and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Exactly. First he compared it to poofing; now jay walking. When digging a hole to show the foundation of Mormon male patriarchalism & its near 200-year historical exploitation of women, you've got Lds posters volunteering to be "Exhibit A, B, C, etc."
(No wonder the single rate has been skyrocketing for years in Utah...despite the "command" to marry in order to get to get to the highest heaven...despite all the available young adults in Utah...there's about 15-16 states with higher marriage ratios than Utah...there's plenty of Lds women who just know "Nope, he's not the guy...")
Son, you got bupkis.
Strange logic, donta think.
Perhaps that he’s not as obsessed as you folks are.
And I respect him and his politics much more as well.
Carry on. Enjoying the show...
Sorry, I took your post as trying to make a point. Wont happen again.
The post wasn’t addressed to you, it was in response to another post about Reagan having many Mormons on his staff.
If you fail to get the point, I can’t help you.
I didn't. I did a pure cut & paste.
Don't you know some newspapers change headlines themselves & retain the same link?
To prove it, all you have to do is either go to this Google link Google search on old headline -- or just cut & paste the old headline & place quotations around it & do a search with it on Google & see what pops up:
With the "old head," you get 88 results on Google...the #1 being this one: Former BYU home teacher pleads guilty to aggravated assault ...

This is a story about attempted rape and assault and has turned into slams against you personally and defense of mormonISM.
Really strange.
>>”First he compared it to poofing; now jay walking.”<<
Show me where I compared rape to jaywalking. You can’t and you know it. Even an idiot can see how you quote one of your gang and then make it mine. Typical liberal tactic that we are all very familiar with. Too bad it doesn’t work here.
Why are you a member of FreeRepublic? Don’t you ever post anything political? Do you have any constructive input on ANYTHING but anti-Mormon issues.
Do us all a favor and just go away.......
Well, C since P is only capable of typing “go away” and “shut up” why bother confusing him with facts, history and logic.
He has nothing to contribute.
Religious bigotry is alive and well on FR.
Thank you for reminding me of Dick Wirthlin. I had forgotten he was Mormon. Yes, he was one of the key people in getting Reagan elected.
Further, I wasn't aware that Mormons or any other ecclastical body for that matter, issued press releases on who is and is not excommunicated. Yes, I vaguely recall reading about some pissant state legislator who was involved in some hot tub incident with a minor a decade or more before it surfaced.
The fact that it eventually did surface and shamed the guy out of office contrasts sharply to a certain legislator in Massachusetts who was running a gay porno ring out of his office and got re-elected.
Reread my post. I didn't call R a liar. I simply held it out as one possibility.
V, do you know ALL mormon Bishops? And you implied I was lying or ‘leaving out key details’. I did neither. HER bishop (not his) encouraged her to marry him, because this bishop was enough of an a-hole to think she had led him on.
Aberration? Perhaps, perhaps not. I have known bishops (and stake presidents) who have moved known rapists to other wards and encouraged the victims NOT to report it because the rapist was ‘mentally deficient’.
And as Colo pointed out, there is plenty of documentation on LDS leaders condoning or covering up sexual abuse.
And I don’t expect an apology from you, you never do.
Just speaking from knowledge and experience. I wouldn’t believe it either if I hadn’t seen it over and over again in many different areas.
I suspect that Colofornian would be very upset if every individual insane act of any member of her church were generalized and blamed on her Church. I’m sure we’d be hearing how unfair it was. She’d expect that allowances would be made and her Church not be blamed for the rare member who wigs out and rapes someone or something. However she’s not willing to extend the same courtesy to the Mormons. Every individual bad act by every individual Mormon is blamed on the Church.
Such an unending screed of viciousness and hate. Sad really.
Your post makes it sound as if Reagan set out to surround himself with members of the mormon religion. If that is true, you must show intent from Reagan directly that this was his goal...
... otherwise your claim is the equivalent to saying “wet streets cause rain.”
We do not know that it was Reagan’s intent to “surround himself” with mormons - do we? Do you have additional proof that would show these employees were chosen _because_ they were mormonites?
Presidents rely on their inner circle for recommendations as they hire thousands of people. I suspect Reagan got a great many recommendations from Mr. Writhlin. If they turned out to be good employees, great.
Can you show intent, Riply?
best,
