True, but I don't think there is any doubt that Hollywood celebs have managed to reduce their total audience significantly because of their personal behavior and political pontificating. I know there are several I will no longer watch in movies, or listen to in music because of it. And I'm far from the only one.
That figure is a disappointment for the movie makers, but I doubt if that amount includes the foreign distribution, and DVD contracts. There is a very unique bookkeeping scheme in figuring P/L in the movies.
There will be no charity fund raisers for any who are involved with that movie.
But, it is great fodder for the Cruise/Diaz bashers.
I watched the Sorcerer’s yesterday. It was a fun, Summer movie, actually. Too bad, it was released in a week where 8 out of the top 10 were either animation or fantasy movies. That it was released on the same week as Inception doesn’t help either.
Tom Cruise’s acting annoys me. The range of of emotions he displays is small. He is either perplexed and determined to bluff his way through, or he is only perplexed. His persona assumes the audience will accept his opinion of his own coolness, but, personally, when faced with the ridiculous notion of him in the role of a hero or a leader I remember Nicole Kidmanan’s comment when they divorced, “Now I can wear high heels again.”
Still not in the black. Production budget plus half that figure equals break even point at the box office. Anything over that and you’re finally into profit.
“Knight and Day” will eventually see a small profit (it’ll be in a few years and will come from cable, PPV, DVD, downloads, etc.) But no one is going to make “Knight and Day II.”
People really seem to have it in for this movie. I don’t get it. It was harmless watchable fluff. Tom Cruise is funny and should do more comedic stuff.
Is that a recommendation? If so, I might go to see it when it comes to my local $3.00 theater.
Spoken like a leftist. "The country" did not pay Diaz. The private company who hired her paid her. Who cares what they paid?
Bond?
I don’t think it would work...I mean, him having to carry around a box to stand on every where he goes.
the 20 million dollars these actors demand assumes the public will pay that much-it is factored into the overhead. I don’t give a dime to these a**holes, so somebody is..
I know a couple of people who saw it and said that it wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it out to be. It was a fun summer light romantic thriller, no more, no less.
The same kind that gave a brain dead bimbo the nuclear codes.
That's their business. Maybe they got their money's worth. Who knows? Who cares?
