So what?

Some here believe that an "owner" should be able to do with an animal as he/she pleases (including torture) because they think the bible gives them license to do so.

Someone needs to explain that, even in a Ken MacLeod-esque libertarian sci-fi fantasy world, the dog owner would simply contract another party to throw the abuser into a privately run, for-profit, prison. After the contract was adjudicated, of course.

never heard anyone believing that - what bible is that?

Are these the same people who don't believe in abortion; yet will vote for someone who does? With a 'who am I' to interfere with someone else's desires?
