How does something like that get lost? Didn’t someone miss them for their ceremonies?

The Mason were very instrumental in the formation of our country. Several meeting were held before they became the center of the Revolution...They may have been hid to keep them safe from the British.
Many time through out history, Masons have been targeted by various groups.
IE:
Hitler tried to wipe them out in Europe. Death in the gas chambers were not limited to the Jews. Only a few survived, because they simply went into the hall and took their records and then went door to door arresting the members.

They must have replaced them over time.

We have a Bible that was grabbed out of a lodge in Mexico just before Zapata’s goon squad got there. A few other things were also liberated. We used the Bible for decades, until its historical signifiance outweighed the damage done to it by constant handling. We replaced it and it is now kept in a glass case. Many members know very little of its history. In another fifty years, I wonder how many will understand its true worth.

My guess.....

A new Grand master decided the old regalia needed to be replaced with new. They were after long deliberation obtained and the old ones were stored in the attic and after the old men died, were forgotten.

The old ones were after all, merely homemade and lacked the prestige of that which is new and made by the foremost creator of regalia.
