She writes poorly. At the Sun-Times that's not exceptional.

Yes, or the product of a private or home school with very low standards.

Though many of my employees who were privately schooled are excellent, some fall far short of the mark.

If you'll simply carefully read it, two or three times, and insinuate what she might be trying to express, it's as clear as a bell.
