Good point. I can't think of any anti-Hitler Hollywood films made in the 1930s. (People think of Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator but that wasn't released until 1940.)

I read about it in some book on Hollywood censorship (including the Hayes Code and the Communist blacklist).
It was not essential to go through the Hollywood system (adults only films with nudity and other extreme subject matter were made in the 1930s-1960s).
I don’t recall the name of the book but the cover is grey/silver with a yellow logo and an image of a woman with a gun from something like a crime/noir film.
