The worst .22 ammo is Remington Golden bullets.

I tested every bulk .22 ammo I could lay my hands on before putting away my stores...well before the 2006 election, by the way. Golden Bullets grouped the best(in a Marlin and a 10-22) and gave same reliability you cite for Federal.

Purchase a box today. It's complete garbage. It's not just me. I am an active shooter in NJ (www.njgunforums.com) and _EVERYONE_ I shoot with has exactly the same experience with Remington Golden bullets. They won't cycle SW MP15 or GSG-5, Walther P22 or Sig Mosquitos reliably.

I have a Marlin 60, Remington Model 5(both of those are bolts) and a Ruger Mark II. I don't have cycling or feed problems with golden bullets...just duds. I tried dud after dud in all three firearms. The Remington is new, the Marlin from the late 50s, my MKII is from the early 90s. All smash the hell out of the rim of the cartridge.

I get occasional duds on Federals, but no where near what I get on the Rem GBs. Much fewer duds on the other remington rounds but almost no consistency down range and my Remington model 5 is a tack driver with decent ammo.

I used to use Remington .22 ammo back in the 80s and I don't recall the quality issues but today it's just crap in my opinion. Obviously you have better luck with it, good luck with that.
