Note that Apple admits the iPhone 4 drops more calls than previous versions, but the way Steve’s statement was worded was VERY careful, plenty of wiggle room:
It drops 1 out 100 more calls
The question, therefore, is now many calls did the iPhone 3GS drop? They’ve admitted it’s worse, but how much worse is the big question:
Did the 3GS drop 1 out of 100? If so, then the iPhone 4 is twice as bad.
Did the 3GS drop 1 out of 300? If so, then the iPhone 4 is 3 times as bad.
Did the 3GS drop 1 out of 1000? If so, then the iPhone 4 is 10 times as bad.
Note that Steve stated an absolute number (1 out of 100) rather than a percent increase in the number of drops (note it’s an increase, too - it’s worse). Usually that’s done when the absolute number is a lot better than the percent increase.
So, the question becomes - we know the iPhone 4 is worse in terms of calls dropped, as compared to the 3GS model. How much worse? That’s what is being hidden...
