Typical government — the records will have the height and weight and the BMI calculated from those.
Of course the BMI has several flaws. It does not take into an account that two people with the same BMI will be radically different fitness conditions. It does not treat muscular people well and I know a double amputee who is fat but does very well on the BMI at his new reduced height.
Body Mass Index - looks like most professional athletes will be listed as fat.
Ha. The BMI is a joke. Great if you are skinny fat, or just skinny.
According to the BMI (and life insurance purposes) I am “obese”.
I am 45 years old, 6’2”, 247lb with 12% BF. Forget the fact that I have great blood panel numbers, low resting HR, 116/19 avg BP and zero health issues.
I can deadlift 435lb, overhead press 215lb, squat 395lb, row 500m in 1.28min, run a mile in under 7 minutes, do 27 pull ups in a row and vertical jump 46”. I am in better physical condition that most 25 year olds due to my PT program and diet.
But I am obese. The BMI and OBAMA says so.
You must pass out a lot
I read somewhere they are considering an obesity tax. This will tell them what tax rate to put us in I guess.
Oops...
116/69...avg over the last 6 mos
I have just a bit of muscle, nothing etraordinary, but I always skew over the upper limit for BMI.
Guess I will not allow my doctor to weigh me anymore.
Good job! Very well done!
“BMI means nothing if you are very muscular.”
Yep. I am morbidly obese by BMI.
I have 9-10% body fat and you can see all 8 abs.
I can bench 2.5 times my weight, deadlift north of 500lbs, squat north of 400lbs.
Can do 25 pullups, no break. 100 push ups, no break.
Run 5 miles in exactly 38 minutes.
But Obama thinks I am fat.
But, But, medical databases on everybody were such a great and outstanding new idea when Mr Smirking Chimp’s people tried to do this very same stuff to us.. Gee I do wonder what happened? /sarcasm
3 years ago I couldn’t do a single pull up. My cholestoral was high, I was pathetically out of shape and did not want to die youg.
I started doing Crossfit 4 days per week. I ride my bike to work Spring through Fall once a week (37 miles round trip).
I watch my diet and don’t drink as much beer as I used to. I’ve only lost ~10 lbs overall but I wear 38” waist pants now instead of 46”.
We seniors must unite in a class action suit ASAP. Grossly unfair because as we age we decrease in stature. Plus some of us are bigger boned than others so can carry more weight without actually being overweight. Wonder if this policy applies to Michelle, Janet N, the Surgeon General, Hillary, and many Congressmen/women too numerous to list?
Well, congrats. That’s a really big thing.....
I don’t know Crossfit. Is it a machine? A technique? A routine?
Thanks.
Crossfit is training methodology. It’s nothing new as far as the exercises, just put together well for efficiency and effectivness. Some LEO, fire and military orgs do this program or something similar.
I like it because I am in and out of the gym in an hour.
It’s not the “Be all, end all” of training programs, but it will get you fit, stron and flexible and keep you fit if that is your goal.

Check out some of the work out videos.
I go to an affiliate here in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
Not to mention we battle Arthur in at least one form or another, I have 2, plus a muscle disease Fibromyalgia, and nerve damage in both legs and feet. I do well to control my weight through diet. Which means 2 very small meals a day and no junk food, and still 10 lbs over weight for my 5’1’ medium frame. Walking was my form of exercise, until the nerve damage and extreme pain showed up.
