Is Gov. Rick Perry a Rino?
7/8/10 | antidemoncrat

So answer this questions for me. This Spring I voted for what I thought was a Conservative Republican for Governor of Texas. Now I find out that Gov. Perry has joined the Democratic Governors of California, New Mexico, and some governors of Mexico in opposing Arizona's SB1070 I cannot decide whether to vote for a Rino or a Democrat who is not afraid of his political affiliations. Since I haven't voted for a Democrat since 1964, should I just not vote for anyone this fall?

I for one hate all the “hold your nose and pull the lever” but for those that don’t know a lot about Texas politics, believe it or not the governor doesn’t have as much power as they do in some other states plus the fact that the Senate is a Republican majority only by the slimmest of margins. If White is elected it will be “Hello State Taxes” and “Goodby Guns, ICE and the Border Patrol”. For the time being, IMO, we need to reelect Perry and get rid of those Washington DC Democrats and clean house in our own State House. Our Sanctuary cities are controlled by Democrat Mayors - we also need to get rid of them and their control.

He’s better than the rat alternative. Work hard to elect conservative Republican legislators and for other elected offices. We already tried the “I won’t vote because they are not conservative” approach, and it got us what we have. Let’s not go down that road again.

This is no time to vote a border state governor’s house to a democrat, or to sit back and not vote to help a democrat! Political purity can get you a cartel at your front door eventually. I am crazy on the border issue, and the gun issue, believing you don’t have a country or democracy with open borders. Rick is awful, but over White, he is necessary evil.

Thank you for posting the mandatory Gardisil horror, you beat me to it.

Perry has always been a rino, and just as soon as he wins he will start trying to sell off the Texas highways again, but today he’s against that and against amnesty, but it will change once he wins..

Yes, he’s a RINO. Unfortunately, the left have an equally awful candidate. Maybe we should write in John Wayne?

He also approved in-state tuition for illegals.

Rick Perry cannot be trusted. He was for the Trans-Texas Highway along with Bush. The idea was to form the North American Union. It was all about Money for the bigwigs.

Gov. Perry has joined the Democratic Governors of California, New Mexico, and some governors of Mexico in opposing Arizona's SB1070

That's a terrible move on his part, if true. For one thing, it's a sharp stick in the eye of Sarah Palin, who endorsed Perry for Governor, and who has been the most vocal, nationally known figure to support Governor Brewer and the Arizona immigration law.

Do you have a source for this info about Perry?

Perry also tried to make it mandatory for young girls to take the HPV vaccine. He eventually had to back down due to the uproar, but he’s just a typical opportunist politician with no spine or principles.

The concept that you only have a choice between a Republican or a Democrat is what got us here in the first place. When will people learn that these are just 2 factions of the same party playing you for a fool.

I was in college then and I found out what a consummate liar L B Johnson was after he gave a campaign speech at our school and said he would never commit out troops to fight a war for a country that wasn’t willing to fight for themselves (S Vietnam). Of course he did just the opposite after he was elected. I haven’t voted for a Democrat since then because I haven’t found one that doesn’t lie, lie, lie. The sad truth is that today many Republicans have adopted that same political philosophy.

“In the debate, Perry didn’t answer Medina’s charge that he was Gore’s campaign manager.

In fact, according to news accounts and Perry’s campaign, Perry served as Gore’s Texas campaign chairman in 1988.

What brought Perry to pitch in for Gore, whose candidacy washed out after he failed to do well outside his native South?
