ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP)—The winner of the 150th British Open will earn $1.29 million, about a $60,000 increase from the previous year.

A total purse of $7.3 million—will provide the runner-up with $759,000 pounds and $496,000 for third place at the event being held at St. Andrews from July 15-18.

No - 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prize dollars would be combined and then split 4 ways. So you won’t have to worry about choking.

Just curious, this was a thread about the British Open, how is it that you felt it necessary to bring the golfer Woods into the discussion unless you're attempting to hijack the thread......? Why don't you inject Freddie Couples into the mix while you're at it?

For the curious, my post was in response to post 2, which linked an article concerning Tiger’s press conference in Ireland today.....

Yes. this is HOPEFULLY a thread that will get used next weekend during the open to discuss the goings on with the players inside the ropes. HOWEVER....

What will and always separate me from the trolls who feel the need to throw falsehoods Tiger’s way, like using performance enhancing drugs, I choose to FReep facts and stuff we see on a daily basis. When I bothered to take the time to post threads last year, I think I made it a point to keep the Tiger bashing to a minimum. I on more than 1 occasion defended his sometimes bad course demeanor and let his game do the talking.

But it’s all different now because of what he did in destroying his family. And oh yeah, there are others like you said, but they didn’t throw clubs all around the course, yell 4 letter bombs all over the place and have a caddy play vigilante on the course. We can even throw Tom Watson in with Freddie but again when you look at the total picture......

Here’s what I hope. Tiger straightens his life out and follows through on the promises he made in his Feb. presser. Then he resumes making a run at 18 majors which is certainly still in reach.

If weather causes any delays, they can probably play as late as roughly 9:30PM in Scotland, 4:30PM on the East Coast so you might want to keep that in mind....
