What if the bad guy is wearing kevlar?

Seriously, there are many folks out there that may have vests and such to protect their vitals. The stuff isn’t prevalent, but it’s not unobtainable either.

Thanks, I know I need practice to get use to handling the gun...I go to my daughters house, (in the middle of a hard wood forest) and my favorite son in law is teaching me well...The first thing he taught me was a bout the safety. and said Red is Dead.....so if the safety shows black I am find. I do check that first.

It loads 5 shot gun shells and we shoot across his pond into a wooded hill...He is a great teacher. (He stands behind me after he hands me the gun LOL) I am getting more use to shooting it and loading it...It holds 5 shells. The smell of gun powder is a good smell...LOL He caught me smelling it and he laughed...I have left it at his home until I get use to it, but will be bring it home soon....My shells are bought by my son's for presents. Have quite a few boxes, but can always get more...All I have at home is a little Colt Cobra that I inherited when my father passed away...he had a conceal carry permit being a retired cop and thats the gun he used for protection. But when his neighborhood becames 95% black and crime went sky high, he had them hidden all over the house in places I'll bet no one would find them.... He lived in Detroit and felt sorry for the poor blacks that couldn't get out of the dam* city and were stuck there...The middle class moved out years before..

I saw that small town virtue in west Texas where my mother grew up. Unfortunately that region is now smack in the middle of the border war brought by the Mexican drug cartels, so they are really being put to the test.

Colt Cobra's a nice little gun. 6 shots, .38 caliber, concealable, lightweight aluminum frame.

Body armor is legal for civilian purchase with the exception of the Peoples Republic of Connecticut and convicted felons per federal law.

Head shot. That’s why you must practice.

Well, its a 38 special if that makes a difference. Has a nice wood grip but could be fake wood. Your right, easy to handle, even have the holster but somehow lost the part that fits over the shoulder.

Being a nurse, he liked to have me go to the cardiologist with him so I could tell him what the doctor said after we left....One day the doctor said he wanted to do an EKG. I asked dad if he wanted me to leave as he had to take off his shirt, he said no and when he removed his shirt said Damn it, took the gun, holster and holster holder (don't know what to call it) and told me to put it all in my purse....lucky I had a large purse with me at the time....

PS it sounds like a cannon when your shooting a coon with it...

38 special is the normal 38 caliber. I had a Colt Cobra for a year or two, but sold it a long time ago. Tried to get it back, but the guy that bought it really liked it so he wouldn’t sell it back. :-)

I have it’s steel-framed cousin, the Detective Special. Very similar gun. Short barrel, a little jumpy when you shoot it but easily controllable.

If you are not then it is not a good idea to brandish a weapon because any weapon may be turned against you. I know there will be those who say that just showing a weapon can be a deterrent. But I would not want to bet my life on that assumption. You must be ready and willing to kill. The firearm is merely the instrument. You are the killer. Can you do it? Only you can answer that question.

Post Of The Thread!!!,,,Hat Tip To Mick,,,

The weapon is your mind,,,

It’s high dollar stuff but it works,,,

Those Flechette rounds are about the same stuff we used

They will reach about 150yds. ,,,

Interesting site...

I don't know if it makes a difference or not the the bullets are marked 38 special. Are all 38’s marked that way? I am not too smart of all types of guns....just the one’s I have...some of you guy's when I read your posts on different kinds of gun's it boggles my mind...but love to hear men talk. Spent hours of listening to all you guys watching the live feed from the BP spill.....it was fun and someone would say why don't they do this or that, and pretty soon thats what they did..... I answered one fellow and he said he was really getting tired doing so much work on the spill....LOL

For a woman or a child a 20 gauge is easier to fire and handle than a 12, the recoil is a lot less. My mother, the original Goat Granny, was an expert with firearms and I owe much of my shooting ability and knowledge of firearms to her.

"Dobes are VERY family oriented (mine hates it when he is not in the same room as his people)."There is no better dog in the world.

that said, if you have very cold weather, or anticipate not being able to give him 3000 calories/day...get one of the small terriers. They can live on a couple of eggs a day along with what they "graze"...bugs, grass...a little fruit every now and again.

They're just as loyal, just as vigilant...they just don't pack as much *ss.

To get the right fit for my arm length, I did have to get a youth gun....It fits just right...not much of a recoil at all if I place it at the right part of my shoulder, made 1 mistake at placement and it kicked me back a few inches...My son in law said nothing, I guess he figured I’d figure it out myself. (but the second time he did help me out) I love that man....he’s my favorite son in law....of course he’s my only son in law, but like I tell him that doesn’t mean I have to like him, but I do..Thanks for giving me lots of instructions. I appreciate all I have gotten on Free Republic...In fact I bought the gun after reading a thread on the best shot gun for home protection. I always believe gun guys...Winchester 870 pump, holds 5 shells......was the majority of replies...

I like 20 gauge myself. Got a couple of them.

Nice all around size. Big enough for deer (with slugs) but small enough for rabbit. Plenty big enough for bad guys.
