Yup, they love to root. LOL Our Nigel is always smelling something underground (chipmunks and whatnot), and he'll start to (as my wife puts it) 'dig a hole to China'. He'll fixate on whatever scent he picked up, and be obsessive about it for days. Eventually he'll move on to some other critter's hidey-hole, and I have to get the shovel out to backfill behind him. But, that's the nature of the breed - badger hunters. I believe it was H.L. Mencken who said, 'A dachshund is a half-dog high and a dog-and-a-half long.'. LOL And boy, do they love to burrow under blankets!

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."
