I suspect that COTU people (probably women) who become involved with hiding children from alleged or confirmed abusive parents probably think very differently from the rest of us. According to the articles (you kindly posted) they are very suspicious of LE and the media.
If Kyron is being held in such a *safe house* and, as you noted, talking about his experiences - then the truth shall set him free.
Perhaps Desiree is still getting untraceable calls from such a safe-house and trying to prove her bona fides as a parent as well as provide LE with enough clues to locate Kyron. What a cat & mouse game - if this is indeed what is going on. No wonder we can’t make sense of what we think we know.
My opinion on this is that the FBI desperately needs new profilers, because ..... IF the COTU THEORY is correct, then..... it seems to me that having Desiree & Kaine try to publically convince COTU that TMH is a pathological clinically psychopathic LIAR...... was likely an eggregious error...... since, apparently, the very reason for this organization is that so many parents were considered to be LIARS who falsely accused the other parent of sexual abuse.
It doesn't matter what WE think of Tony & Desi, because KYRON, himself, can tell his current caregivers/caretakers/substitute family all about his birthparents and his stepparents, he's old enough to discuss them, and smart enough a youngster to do so both lucidly and convincingly.
Some of the lawsuits against COTU mention that children were brainwashed into believing they'd been abused.

Particularly distressful is that that Joan Pennington was on the cover of a Scientology magazine, and you know how rich & international the scientologists are.... and THAT might explain why HLN covers Kyron Horman all the time, but Greta is totally ignoring it.
I find that very suspicious.
Just doesn't sound like the normal extracuricular interests of a stepmom, or of a stepmom that "snaps", or of a psychopath or a "chronic liar."
Another thing that MAY be really messing up & muddying the waters is that there is really no way for any of us to tell whether ANYBODY from Oregon whom we EVER see on TV is utterly stoned out of their gourds, it MAY simply be their entirely "normal" mode of consciousness at this point.
For instance, I was surprised to see how young that Tanner's birth father was and how he obviously is part of the metal music scene, and who knows what all else.
