One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.

After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return. The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4

The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.

Kyron Horman Update: Stepmom Asks for Divorce Delay

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS/AP) Kyron Horman’s stepmother Terri Horman claims that the firestorm surrounding her makes it nearly impossible for her attorneys to respond to her husband’s request for a divorce - but she also says she doesn’t plan to fight the divorce.

Terri Horman’s attorney, Peter Bunch, filed a motion for abatement to delay the divorce proceedings claiming that “intense scrutiny” by law enforcement and media prevent her lawyer from handling the divorce in an “effective and orderly fashion.”

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20012057-504083.html

One possible reason for the request for a delay to the divorce proceeding could be that the divorce could force Terri Horman and her lawyers to choose between her right to respond to claims against her by Kaine Horman and her constitutional right to remain silent in the investigation into Kyron’s disappearance, according to Jody Stahancyk, a prominent Portland family law attorney, who is not involved in the case.

I think it’s more that LE don’t know where to conduct a search rather than they know he’s in the underground. I don’t think there’s any code words or that the increase in the reward was anything more than a kind person or group who wanted to help Kyron but didn’t want their name dragged through the rabid press. I feel this is as so many other missing children that there’s simply no trail to follow or there would have been more searches and an arrest by now.

If Terri knew anything, there’s NO WAY she’d have been able to keep her mouth shut over the past two months and if she’d planned it that’s an even LONGER time period that she’d have had to keep mum. Hey, you said she’s dumb. Other than not giving pressers, she’s apparently been running her head about everything under the sun. Supposedly, she didn’t give interviews in the beginning because Kaine told her not to, then when she was getting slammed by the public Dede told her not to, and now her lawyer is telling her not to. But all that hasn’t stopped her blathering elsewhere. According to Desiree, she’s chatty on emails with her so she’s probably chatty with everyone else she emails. I haven’t seen her FB, but apparently she’s chatty on it as well. Her texting is famous. The best thing her lawyer could do is throw away her phone and computer and lock her in a room without access to any outside communication JUST TO KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT.

But I have been wrong once or twice before, so who knows.

"Terri says", oh, really!?! Since when has Terri told reporters anything? Sounds like more shoddy reporting and spreading rumors. Sorry, but I'm to the point of not believing anything that's being reported on this case unless I see it coming from that person's mouth on live tv and even then I'm likely to chalk it up to more self serving lies.

As to the filing, she's getting good advise from her attorney. Of course, no matter what her attorney files, it'll be construed that it was Terri's oh so brilliant mind that came up with it.

Frankly, I question Kaine pushing for the divorce right now when he needs to be focusing ONLY on Kyron. To heck with whatever he feels about Terri, it is KYRON who needs his full and undivided attention now... and Kiara. If it's all about the MFH, then let the LE handle that. The divorce should be put on the back burner. Six months down the road, maybe, or better yet, after the MFH trial and decision, but not now.

Hi, bgill.

It's been explained in lots of different places that the reason Stephen Houze won't contest the restraining order is due to the fact that Terri would have to testify.

Any testimony she gives in the RO civil case can be used against her in the criminal trial for the kidnapping of Kyron Horman.

LE and Kaine are trying desperately to get her to crack and publically tell everyone where Kyron is right now.

I do think she's a dummie. But I fail to share her high opinion of herself; I'm positive that LE was onto her FAST, and that her putting Kyron into the Unknown Underground Kids Universe is responsible for lots of seemingly bizarre statements and peculiar actions by LE throughout the time I've been following it.

Yep, she's so dumb even an uneducated yours truly could finally figure out WHAT is the reason there is no rhyme or reason to what's transpiring?

I feel SO sorry for other parents of missing kids, because Terri is getting ALL the press attention right now, and anything NOT-Terri is being shoved to the back of the newsroom floor.

If I had a missing child right now, I would sue the livin' daylights out of Terri Moulton, I'd have her in court so fast, it'd look like magic.

This also explains why Kaine recently mentioned that he's positive that Kyron left with someone that Terri had introduced Kyron to, that he was certain of it.

Thankfully, LE obviously has SCADS of evidence, and no wonder there are literally thousands of tips.

I wish that Tony & Desiree Young could get together several dozen very conservative Christian ministers to hold a combined prayer vigil at their Wall of Hope --- that may help the present caretaker of Kyron to do the RIGHT THING and drive Kyron to the nearest police department.

There's waaaaaay too much information that fits, and the reason that Terri's friends are abandoning her in droves is because they now have a better understanding the precise 'probable cause.'

I wonder, though, what role she had Dede play? Just out of curiousity, LOL

From the National Center for Missing Children, there have been 261 new children go missing in the last 2 months but 260 of them haven’t had headline news. There have been children’s bodies found during this time and no murderers jailed but still very little publicity. There’s been 2 child alerts just on my local tv in the past few days but it’s just been the alert and nothing on the evening news. BTW, why are those alerts always so garbled and poor quality you can’t understand what they’re saying?

I read at SM that there is a press conference re: Kyron Horman tomorrow morning at 11 am -- which would be PST, so... NOON Mountain; 1 PM Central; 2 PM Eastern. The poster said that NOTHING whatsoever else was said, just the time and Kyron.

Perhaps Nasty Grace will cover this tonight and we'll learn more? :)

It's a possibility but I think it's more likely that a child killer took him and his body is too far away and too well-hidden to be found.

It's the PNW after all.

Bingo. Kyron is just, in the end, yet another kid who disappeared. Sad but true. And the desperate parents are clinging to anything to avoid facing the facts.

O M G

Have you perchance read the WS thread for psychiatric professionals to address questions from posters?

I don't believe what I'm reading!!

Can you imagine that someone is telling the lay public that pharmeceutical antidepressants are not associated with short term memory problems?

What planet is that individual living on?

Every single person I've ever met who ever was any of those antidepressants, it was like a space cadet characature of themselves arose as a central persona, and they'd not remember all sorts of stuff --- NOT that they'd forget something like murder or kidnapping, but definitely had to start making detailed lists & schedules as their short term memory was a sieve.

I just cannot believe that ANYBODY in the profession would claim that those pharaceutical chemicals don't interfere with memory -- how is that possible?

And yikes, I know of one person who was prescribed them and continued drinking alcohol, and the only way you could honestly state that his short term memory wasn't impacted, was simply that 98% of his short term memory VANISHED while on that cr+p.

Just wow.... it was my understanding that memory problems were as common as the weight gain.

Incidentally, some time back I read a great possible explanation into TMH's sudden weight gain --- that it was probable that she'd recently finished weaning Baby-K, and thus was no longer burning up copious amounts of calories that all nursing mothers tend to.

How many have you met? 10? 15? Unless you have a series of 200 or more, with controls, you have no scientific data. Data is not the plural of "anecdote."

Maybe around half a dozen, LOL

But I checked some online websites last year and read on places with names like "sideeffects.net" (OR something) and like "baddrugs.com" (OR something) that short term memory loss was COMMON with these pharmaceutical antidepressants. Finally, several the "zany" behavior of several persons I know made sense.

However, as you point out, perhaps their memory problems were due to something else; but I know that I read that a common side effect is difficulty remembering things.

Say, do you by any chance know if there exists some type of "continuum" on which liars are placed?

Inotherwords, surely a psychopathic liar ..... is not the same as the seemingly large multitude of compulsive liars and continual spinners of stories that seem to be so common in daily life???

Remember when Safire referred to Hillary as a 'congenital liar' but never used the clinical term, 'psychopath'?

You raise an interesting thought. It's like drug use. Do “Little white lies” lead to pathological con artists? Probably not. Pathological lairs typically fall into one of 3 personality disorders - Sociopathic, Narcissistic and Borderline. By definition, personalty disorders are lifelong patterns of maladaptive behavior.

Thanks.

It's really hard reading about possible diagnoses for TMH, as really, there are soooooooo many "Walter Mitty" fantasy-prone individuals 'out here' who would never murder or kidnap anybody, and there are also are simply scads of chronic liars or compulsive liars, who also may exhibit little conscience about their stories or lies, yet would never ever come under any psychiatric magnifying glass, and would be considered normal.

I was particularly interested that early on in this case, at some board, can't remember where, but someone who claimed to be a medical doctor stated EMPHATICALLY that no major psychiatric diagnosis of ANY kind whatsoever was needed here, that TMH was an obvious substance abuser and that EVERYTHING "extraordinary" commented upon about her was indicative of substance abuse.

AND maybe.... if that alledged physician was accurate, MAYBE that is why so many of the symptoms attributed to TMH look sooooo ubiquitous, because our society is riddled with druggies & alcoholics.

But I have no educational background to know if this might be true.

I just know that both Casey Anthony and Mindy Cummings and Susan Smith all immediately appeared to me, INSTANTLY, to be clinically pathological individuals; whereas the "symptoms" indicative of "obvious" personality disorder coupled with clinical psychopath attributed to TMH .... well, those symptoms appear to be garden variety compulsive behaviors common to many people functioning well in society.....

I guess there's some new book recently published about the pervasiveness of narcissism in American society, so it is confusing to me, when SO many people exhibit behaviors attributed to TMH and she's being called a psychopath.

You may be correct that a pedophile snatched Kyron; however, I don't think that the LEOs ever believed that, and it's my impression that when they briefed Desi & Kaine that they mentioned the spectre of "parental kidnappings" --- and being Oregonians, they'd probably already know about the circumstances which led to AARON'S LAW, and that they are directing ALL their comments to the individuals who they believe are "safekeeping" their son, because TMH claimed that Kyron needed to be protected from his family of origin.

I believe that the LEOs have actual evidence about this, but won't share it until either Kyron is recovered, or the perpetrators are arrested.

Up to 9-15% of the population is estimated to have a personality disorder. Some of these are just quirky individuals or agoraphobes, but many are extremely dangerous. The 3 I mentioned - Sociopathic, Narcissistic and Borderline are the most dangerous and common. Substance abuse and comorbid psychiatric disorders like panic disorders, depression and bipolar illness are common in this population.

I’ll throw a few more into pennie’s group of forgetful anecdotal antidepressant acquaintances. They are space cadets when first put on meds. Some quit early on because they realized it was making them worse than before. Some stuck it out and meds were adjusted, readjusted, and adjusted some more until there was a fit. But the readjustment of meds took years, not weeks or months and then it was only a temporary fit and eventually they’d be sliding down the hill again. I must say that some truly needed meds but most could have solved their problems with a bag of oreos. Of course the oreos brings on weight gain and then they’re depressed all over again.

Who knows what Terri’s weight gain was. It could be anything or nothing other than she’s been eating while at her laptop sending chatty emails. It could be baby fat and the weaning. A controlling husband and unhappy marriage. I know for a fact that butting heads with teenagers can cause weight gain.

FIFTEEN percent???

OMG, thank you, thank you .... I had NO idea that personality disorders were so common, OMG, no wonder so much stuff discussed online re: psychopathology simply looks kinda ordinary to me.

LOL!!

One thing I read recently that also helped me out was someone stated that in their long experience as a psychiatric nurse in a prison facility somewhere, that personality disorders don't come as a single entity, that most people with PDs have several of them in varying degrees. That a "PURE" PD is simply not the norm.

Have you read about Brian Fallon? He does research on the neurobiology of psychopaths, and recently I ran across an interesting article about him.

Genealogically, his family is related to Lizzie Bordon ... yep; and of all things HE, himself, has some of the 'markers' in HIS brain of things that his research has shown to be common in psychopaths.

It was a chatty article, not scholarly, but pretty interesting, LOL -- so of course it concluded with him saying something about the continuing disagreements & arguments about NATURE versus NURTURE.

Thank you for sharing with me that 9-15 percent of the population, because I'm positive that I've met some individuals who clearly exhibit clinical signs of PD, and so maybe I actually have, if PDs are that common.

What perturbs me most about compulsive lying is that most people do not care about it, they just smile and say, "Oh, that's just how s/he is," OR maybe they'll say, "Oh, s/he is NOT a liar, s/he embellishes stories to be interesting."

Personally, I'm very suspicious of story-spinners and liars. LOL

I’ve long wondered if Terri’s lies are to cover up some self worth issues. Either she feels she’s always in the shadows or she has to have the spotlight at all times. The more exaggerated her stories, the more she’s the center of attention (chatty emails, sexting, and FB). Throw in some behavioral drama (walking out of the lie detector) and, good or bad, all eyes are on her.

On the other hand, since Terri hasn’t spoken out, EVER, do we know that she’s told any more lies than the other characters in this soap opera?
