Kyron Horman's Stepmother Allegedly Tried to Hire Hit Man, Report Says

One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.

After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return.The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4

The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.

Mike Cook was not on their doorstep the next day. There is a whole group of people currently living in Portland, OR, all of whom attended the same high school in Seattle, WA.

I presume that they initially became aware of their mutual presence in the same city, either via a past class reunion, or perhaps from Classmates.com, where at least hundreds of thousands are reconnecting after decades.

Mike Cook didn't just show up on Kaine's doorstep. Becky Owens and he organized their group of high schoolmates to make a website, create & print posters, sell bracelets, coordinate searches, etc/etc/etc -- there was at least half a dozen names that I ran across weeks ago, sorry no link.

AFTER Kaine moved out, then one day, Cook showed up with groceries & cat food for the Terri and OTHERS living in the house -- Dede would have been inside, and I believe Terri's parents were there then, too.

Cook also brought along a large iced cooler with drinks for the press.

BUT...... this was probably the SAME coooler that the GROUP had used in weeks past to provide cold drinks for SAR in the church parking lot.

I've read emails by Becky Owens and at least one other woman asking for donations to provide drink & food to the search teams & volunteers.

Don't get me wrong, I am NOT defended scuzball M.Cook; rather, I wanted to offer a few facts, as I'm sick of seeing it repeated everywhere, WHY WOULD HE SHOW UP FOR TERRI WITH FOOD, when obviously the group of high schoolmates had been running errands for the Horman family for almost a month at that point.

AND rather than "showing up out of the Sky Blue" as chat gossipers have been ranting & raving for weeks, I presume that he called/texted Terri asking what groceries she needed.

Does ANYONE believe that Terri could have entered a grocery store at that time???????

Over at Scared Monkeys there's a poster named Double Decker who owns the website, Crime in the 21st Century" and s/he(?) was as interested as I was that the VANCOUVER police department assisted in the investigations regarding the disappearance of Kyron.

Vancouver, Washington is right across the Columbia River from Portland --- and guess what's right there amongst the city bridges?

Sauvie Island.

Anyway, I suppose that they are thinking about the river and the mud flats; but myself, I am wondering if she had a close confident in Vancouver who is still hiding Kyron.

When I've read the different versions of WHY would TMH abduct her stepson & disappear him? --- the idea that resonates the most with me is that this true crime fanatic who adores Dexter & CSI was particularly entranced by one case of child abduction from a school where the family was awarded 12 million dollars.

I also suspect that she is juvenile enough in her narcissism that SHE was gonna be the Hero and locate Kyron --- but since she's been tailed virtually everywhere, she has had no chance to go and retrieve him and then sue the Portland area school system for negligent security procedures.

I am really angry, just furious about NO SECURITY in those schools -- but I've read dozens upon dozens of threads here at FR about how terrorists want to conduct a terror attack with elementary school children.

OBVIOUSLY there are many thousands of American schools who could care less and have similar utter lack of any security.

It's a CRIME.

I am also curious if there may be some little, OFF THE RADAR, type of domestic violence coalition or organization which hides women & children from abusers --- and that someone in that little waaaaaaay under the radar tiny local group has successfully hid Kyron, and doesn't know how to get him back to mainstream civilization -- that they now understand that they were snookered by WHOMEVER is responsible for the disappearance of Kyron.

Well, first off, isn't he an architect? Doesn't that require grad school? Just what does he do at Intel, has he been working on top secret high clearance contracts for the U.S. government?

Inotherwords, Kaine is employed, and not just at any job, he is a professional with advanced education. And although he is an archetypal GEEK, apparently he still knows how to L@@K good & dress fashionably.

His income is presumably above average, too.

I'd presume that at any bar, any gym, any boardroom, there's bound to be a whole slew of 30-something females who'd be interested in him.

AND, frankly, there are simply waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many online rumors about them both participating in a very large very active adult swingers community --- and I have NO idea whatsoever what the typical background of most male participants is, but I would expect that Kaine would stand out in such surroundings, ya know??? That's my impression, but I have no idea. And frankly, I wonder if Mike Cook and plenty other adults associated with this horrible crime are similarly interconnected for many years as swingers?????

Most children, by age 6, will want to make each set of parents in an extended family situation feel that 'they' are special to that child, and utter meltdowns when leaving the house are COMMON.

Phyliss, who I've also seen referred to as 'Phillip' works somewhere at Intel; however, I have NO idea if s/he exists; I do not know if Kaine had/has a workplace romance.

I do know that he works at the Intel campus in Hillsboro, suburban Portland, located about 15 minutes from his house.

I have never read of the rumor that Terri didn't remember to get her cellphone out of the Mustang that morning...... however, IF there were even one molecule of truth to this rumor, don't you think that we'd be VERY aware that the PPD had Kaine under microscopic scrutiny at this point???

Also, although I've read accounts of them examining the truck, I've not come across any reportage of forensic examination of the Mustang.

IF there are backdoors in the building that Kaine works in, I presume that video monitoring and guard surveillance is intense throughout the Intel campus.

ALSO.... I've seen mention that the sighting of the Mustang and White Truck on S.I. actually originated from a "PSYCHIC" ---- so it's not even local rumoring, nope it was some online "psychic" that came up with that particular vision; I didn't learn that, though, until several weeks after I first heard about the ALLEGED sighting --- but see, there was NO SIGHTING WHATSOEVER - it was all the vain imaginings of some so-called "psychic."

I've been trying to think of that lady from years back who was in the news who did that sort of thing. I'm drawing a blank what her name is. IIRC, she did extensive background checks on the family to make sure there verifiable problems within the household before she would step in. There's been no 911 calls or restraining orders or anything to indicate there was violence in the house as far as we know so I don't think any group would put themselves on the line just on the word of a parent. That goes back to speculation that Terri had to have help. Sorry, FRiends, but I wouldn't drop everything and rush off from work for a few minutes to cover up a murder you just committed. Nope, I'm still not buying the accomplice on the fly theory. Does anyone know if Terri and Dede routinely worked out at the gym in the mornings or certain days, or did they just show up whenever? We've heard the LE interviewed parents and students at the school but we haven't heard if they interviewed patrons at the gym. The reports are that LE did verify she was there so surely they can verify if Dede was there, too.

While FR was down - I checked some Kyron threads and there was a discussion on LS (?) and *underground railroad* for abused children.

Certainly, a 7 year-old child is much harder to abduct than an infant. If that is what happened - there would have been a lot of pre-planning.

Another point of interest is the $300K Terri used to pay her attorney. Could it have been lottery winnings - or were Kaine and Terri involved in an income producing business that they failed to report? Kaine is claiming that the $300k is marital property.

This has been my belief for a long time, too; however ..... where I cannot believe this is based upon Desiree stating, "Kyron is .A.L.I.V.E."

And Desiree telling the perp, "Just drop Kyron off at an isolated phone booth and tell him to dial 911 and tell them his name."

I sense that she is simply waaaaaaaay too sure of this, that Kyron's NOT murdered, that he is alive, that she will see him again -- I believe she has inside information that the cops were able to track Kyron somewhere and believe that he is alive.

Now..... how many of us have heard ANYTHING about any Kyron search ANYWHERE else but within a 4-mile radius of the school?

But when there was a sighting of a Kyron Look-a-like in Texas, and then one in West Virginia, the cops were all over it in SECONDS.

So, it seems to me, that LE knows something about Kyron and his present status that we do not, but that Tony & Desiree DO.
