One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.

After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return. The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4

The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.

Oregon Live did an article about Kyron's blended family, and that's where it all first was reported. Meantime, it's been discussed all over the place, at Websleuths and Scared Monkeys and In Session and dozens of crime blogs and many 100s of comments sections following news articles.

Thanks, I never knew that -- also, perhaps his mom Desiree Young was already having difficulties with kidney damage?

The interviews with Kyron’s parents covered how Kyron came to be in the custody of his dad.

Terri said she was a friend of Desiree. Desiree says that’s not true. I have no idea how they met. The swingers thing is new to me...but being Portland, I wouldn’t be surprised.

No clue how she and Kaine met.

That brings up Cook. I read they started their thing during the early days of the search, but did they know each other before then? Just how close was he and Kaine? It’s all kind of creepy that he’d hit on his friend’s wife and right in the middle of a missing child. Yeah, I read that swingers’ theory but who knows what goes on behind closed doors and it’s probably just more of the snowballing of all these rumors surrounding the case. Sure, LE needs to do their job but saying virtually nothing in 7 weeks isn’t going to slow down the rumor mill.

Yes, there's been a HUGE amount of online chatter about that possibility, I was astounded by the amount of discussions I surfed across --- the above is a google search for "swingers club" terri kaine horman, and below are the search results for more sordid rumors:

Evidentally, to get the "goods" on Mike Cook, one is instructed to read his ex-wive's website; apparently she discusses domestic violence, huge amounts of money mysteriously appearing in her druggie hubbie's possession, global travel, and an array of associated weird stuff.

I never checked her website, but apparently it is VERY eye opening, IYKWIM; frankly, I'm just not interested in all the sordid details rumored online --- but I have seen it discussed all over the place.

Say - on the basis of absolutely NO firsthand knowledge of Michael, my own intuition is that he was the ONLY person in Terri Horman's existence who was paying ANY positive attention to her, so it doesn't surprise me that suddenly bereft of her 3 kids & husband that she'd bond FAST with him -- it simply does not seem at all remarkable to me.

I originally believed that he might have felt that if he filled up that Huge Sudden Total VOID in Terri's life that she'd confide to him the whereabouts of Kyron and then M.Cook would be The Hero, the Superhero of Portland, the Master Who Located Kyron.

Ya know?

I also was quite amazed that the LEOs and presumably profilers decided that they need to ISOLATE TERRI so that she'll speak to THEM.

I mean.... really, were they serious about FINDING KYRON, they should have surveilled this sudden love affair, NOT done everything possible to disrupt & destroy it.

I think that this investigation needs a brand new set of Professional Profilers who aren't olde fashioned stuck-in-the-olden-days when Adultery was a Big.WooHoo.Scandal which it obviously is NOT scandalous in this day & age of marital breakdowns EVERYWHERE.

I think that these strange actions on the part of the LEOs make some posters seriously wonder if the LEOs actually are trying to give KAINE more than enough rope to......

Thanks, now...don’t you think it is odd that he took one child from mom at age 18 mos and now has done the same thing again with his daughter? Same age.

Good evening, MarMema.

Were this ANY other missing child case, I would agree with you that it is very peculiar.

However, since this is the Kyron Horman Disappearance, I have to say that what you point out is actually not very odd.

Why?

Because the main consistency in this case is the shocking number of apparent COINCIDENCES.

It is really eerie.

Evidentally, on one of the Oregon local news sites, after one of the articles, in the COMMENTS section, there is someone who mentioned that there exist many emails written by TH claiming that Kyron was getting on her nerves.

I have NO idea if this is an accurate statement, or if it constitutes Rumor No. 906532, but if it is true, AND IF TH IS INNOCENT, it really will be an object lesson of the dangers of email & all electronic forms of messaging.....

AND I certainly hope that IF such emails exist, that they do NOT constitute the Probable Cause mentioned by LEOs.

WHY would anyone return home in sweaty smelly workout garb????

When you are going directly home..no contact with anyone like work etc--the shower at home is more appealing. The materials used in work out gear, HH (Under-Armor)for instance, lighter + breathe more than what one used to wear. Health clubs are air conditioned, you have antibacterial sprays available/paper towels and health club ettique says clean up after you use a machine (plus workers are always in clean up mode) and of course good clubs are not "smelly" like the old gyms. Not that I have done the aforementioned, but just sayin'. ;)...but see it all the time.

You do usually change footwear, however..sneakers you might wear on the street, you don't wear in the club--keeps them clean.

Just my experience in the fitness world.

Local news in Portland is that searchers returned to the school today at 10 am and were there for several hours, and said they were not acting on a new tip, but were "tieing up loose ends."

Early last week, Nancy Grace stated that the Skyline School was "swarming with searchers," but I don't know if her report was accurate.

Anyway.... it appears to me, that perhaps.... there actually IS evidence at the elementary school, perhaps there actually IS a crime scene somewhere???? That they actually have some E V I D E N C E - and that's why they can so assuredly state that this is a criminal investigation.

I wonder if the crime scene is in the school, and WHAT they found? Is it Kyron's blood? Evidence of a scuffle? Fingerprints? Footprints? Was it inside, or was it outdoors?

And why would there still be any loose ends?????

I got so interested in reading the Scared Monkeys Forum about Kyron, because longterm poster Rob - who I read 1000s of postings by for many years about the Natalee Holloway case -- Rob made several long detailed posts about how peculiar and so very suspicious that Kaine is.

I was just devestated when the admin told Rob - OF ALL PEOPLE - that nothing bad could be posted about Kaine and that anyone who wanted to post ANY negative ANYTHING about Kaine must go to the Facebook Support Terri Horman webpage.

I was just floored. Rob has posted at SM for over FIVE YEARS, and he's personally researched plenty of other missing persons cases.

Anyway, I still read there occasionally, but what got me interested was the long detailed posts by Rob.

Like you, I do not trust Kaine. In his defense, however, I will mention that there are 1000s of comments online that he is simply a TYPICAL engineer type and to NOT read anything into his demeanor, that it's a sign of social akwardness and NOT of guilt.

However...... I have often wondered if TH is being framed -- but I'm positive that if this ever goes to trial and that we will finally understand this disappearance much better, once we are able to view some real evidence.

Me too. It’s just too easy to nail a stepmom. So I began wondering about the framing thing, especially after reading the divorce papers.
