One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.
After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return. The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4
The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.

That could very well be the case and the LE has spent so much time on Terri that they can't admit they're wrong. With just that 4 hours between when she left the school and the pictures were posted, well, that doesn't leave much time to do the deed and cover it up. Wasn't she seen at some store that morning? What time was that? That would cut even more into the window of opportunity. Unless there was a pre-arranged third party quick drop off, then I'm leaning more and more toward Terri just might be innocent and something more sinister happened. What if he thought he was supposed to go with Terri that morning but she'd already left? What if he was out wandering around in the parking lot looking for her and some creep came along? There were a lot of people at the school that day and no one would notice a stranger luring a kid into a car.
Maybe there is a June 4 timeline for Terri, Kaine and the baby. If so, I haven’t seen one.
Was Kaine at work and for how long?
Where was the baby - with Kaine, with a baby-sitter and until when?
Where was Terri (from phone pings)after 9:30?
Who did Terri call and who called her during all of Jun 4th?
Just too complex!
Hmm, I wouldn’t think too complex if the LE was doing their job. Grab computers, phones, and credit cards and run down the times they were used. Grill everyone that all parties saw or talked to that morning. Verify where the family members were with the videos. Your questions should have been nailed down the first couple days by LE but now seven weeks out and news reporters seem to know more than the LE.
That work has probably been done. It seems LE was reported to be tracking down 3,000 leads. I just haven’t seen a list online.
HP tracks some of the crime blogs - which might have snippets posted or even complete timelines compiled by posters.
Still a work in progress by LE - we can only hope.
"Outside the county board room, Staton told reporters that Kyron's stepmom, Terri Moulton Horman, has cooperated and agreed to all requests so far from investigators. He declined to name any person of interest in the case, but he said an upcoming press release will answer many of the public's questions about the case."
I think there is some online chatter about a possible press conference next Tuesday.
Therefore, we have NO official statements about almost anything that has anything to do with this case.
I'm kind of horrified, as in my reading this past week I learned that Somer Thompson's mom was utterly trashed in the online blogosphere & crime chatboard universe, due to her lifestyle, boyfriends, husbands, etc. But absolutely NOTHING about her personal life had anything to do with Somer's disappearance.
The cops never once spoke up in her defense, even though SHE had nothing whatsoever to do with the vile death of her beloved youngest daughter -- there's a putrid RSO who killed her and dumped her body in a landfill.
I recall earlier this decade being utterly flabberghasted and downright APPALLED that there was a chatboard owner who believed that Patsy Ramsey killed Jon Benet -- and from what I understand, anyone who disagreed with her opinion was banned. I was also sickened by the horrible, just extreme things posted online about Beth Holloway and Natalee and her friends, it was just disgusting - and of course even moreso now, come to learn that apparently close friends & associates of Joran were posting under multiple IDs.
I am not invested in protecting the person responsible for the disappearance of Kyron Horman; however, to date, we really only have reams of online rumor and innuendo, an alleged murder for hire plot which apparently is so unsubstantiated that no arrest is pending, pages & pages & pages of nasty rumors and sordid insinuations.
I look forward to the LEOs finally releasing some REAL facts, and due to their extreme silence, coupled with the weird remarks by the other adults, I am very horrified that perhaps they have no facts whatsoever, to share with the public and consequently there exists NO evidence.
The biggest enigma for me is WHY are the LEOs apparently still telling the bio parents that they believe that young Kyron is ALIVE??????
What an enigma!!
I find it just amazing that so many online posters equate sexting with murdering a stepchile.
I mean.... really!! Although I have no interest in either sexting or porn, it's quite apparent to anyone familiar with news that a substantial percentage of Americans are considered to be virtually addicted to porn and sexting is common with the digital generations..... and how many of the devotees of same EVER murder anybody???
Exactly. I agree on all your points.
There are 2 classmates. This one has the surname HOLM.
The other classmate is Tanner, his surname starts with a 'K' -- he's the boy who states that he heard a "substitute teacher" (i.e., an adult volunteer chaperone) count the kids in her group, come up with a total of 5, not 6, and then ask "WHERE'S KYRON???"
Tanner is the boy from whom the comments about Kyron was on his way to see the kewl electric project came from.
The reason I mention these Sauvie Island cellphone pings is that.... of all things, there was a red mustang and a white truck were seen driving wildly, one of these 2 vehicles ran off the road, and it was reported to police on the morning of June 4.
HOWEVER, apparently Kaine had her red mustage and she had their white ford truck; although I've NOT heard the LEOs state this, both Kaine & Desiree, the bio parents allege that they both passed their LDTs with flying colors.
It is my distinct understanding that LE can LIE to anybody during an investigation, and there are lots of cases on record where innocent people who passed LDTs were told that they failed.
Anyway, when I started reading up on this case, on another board, I think In Session, someone had located all the red mustangs in Portland and all the maroon mustangs, too - and there were only a couple dozen or so.
Waaaaaay too many coincidences, and waaaay too little input from the LEOs --- we don't even know where the baby was on that morning, NO idea if she was at school, in the truck, at daycare, with a friend, at a babysitters, or drugged up with benadryl and sleeping in a basket, all alone, on Sauvie Island, hidden for a couple hours with her mom's cellphone.
The entire case is NUTS.
AND.... another oddity, the family likes CSI.
Beat that!
......The district attorney's office will receive $196,034 to hire a deputy district attorney and one investigator through the remainder of this fiscal year to help backfill the work of six more seasoned prosecutors and three investigators dedicated to the Horman investigation.
"We found early on, it's best to have lawyers in the ground floor in the very beginning," District Attorney Michael Schrunk said. "This is an extraordinary matter."
Schrunk said the prosecutors are working on the case daily, assisting with obtaining subpoenas for documents and search warrant affidavits.
"We're hoping for a resolution but as it gets longer, and the net widens...with more leads.., we need to spend more time," Schrunk said.
Commissioner Deborah Kafoury asked, "Why this case?"
"Yes, it's an unusual case. You have a school. You have a science fair. You have a lot of people involved and seemingly you have no explanation why the child is missing," Schrunk replied.
Schrunk said there will come a time when county leaders will have to assess the progress of the case, and "ask those hard questions" on how much time and expenditure is warranted.
Yikes, can't Texas LE tell the difference between a 7 year old small-for-his-age male and a ten year old boy?
The grandfather, a daughter, and the boy who is his grandson were interrogated for almost two hours -- how remarkable!
There is a physical resemblance, but obviously the 10 year old is OLDER.

Law enforcement investigating the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman have been putting pressure on a small circle of friends of his stepmom Terri Moulton Horman, including a 43-year-old Tualatin woman named Dede Spicher.
Investigators searched Spicher's condominium in Tualatin last week, and have conducted multiple interviews with people who had seen Spicher on June 4.
Spicher was a visible presence at the Horman house after Kaine Horman moved out and filed for divorce and a restraining order against Terri Horman in late June. She also was seen driving Terri Horman to and from her attorney's office in downtown Portland.
Detectives learned that Spicher, who shares Terri Horman's passion for fitness and gardening, was doing gardening work for a Northwest Portland homeowner on June 4. She abruptly left the house about 11:30 a.m. and didn't return until an hour to 90 minutes later.
Another person working at the home called Spicher to come in for lunch, and the homeowner called Spicher on her cell phone but she wasn't reachable. Detectives have questioned both the homeowner and the other person who was working at the home that day.
Messages left for Spicher and her parents were not returned Thursday.
Is it safe to presume that the adults who are allegedly withholding information must have deep faith in their reason to do so, which therefore might lead one to believe that perhaps we are dealing with some type of severe child abuse and that he is being hidden???? Out of genuine concern for his safety????
I simply can't make sense of a group of adults allegedly knowing where Kyron is and refusing to tell authorities???
DeDe Spicher accused of withholding information
"Good Evening,
We have been briefed by law enforcement on the most recent developments in Kyron's case. We have been informed that they have identified a person that has been in close communication with Terri Moulton Horman since Kyron went missing and her name is DeDe Spicher. She has not only been in close communication with Terri but has been providing Terri with support and advice that is not in the best interests of our son.
Additional information provided shows that she is refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, she is also going as far as to suggest to others that may have information regarding Kyron's disappearance, not to cooperate as well.
We implore DeDe Spicer to come forward and cooperate with the investigators in any way that they need in order to assist us in finding our son. We will state further that if we find out through the investigation that she caused a delay in us finding our son due to her lack of cooperation, we will pursue civil remedies in this matter.
We as a family cannot understand how anyone can look at Kyron's smiling face, having information and choose not to help bring him home. Please remember what this is about, it's about bringing a wonderful little boy back to his family.
Desiree, Tony, and Kaine"
Thanks for the update.
Do you suppose there is more info like this that LE has been working through?
We can only hope this means something important and will finally free Kyron from captivity.

Interesting news video and article.
I am very curious what the July 13th Tweet by dedejustdede might mean --- for instance, my current interpretation is that this cryptic allegorical message is a WARNING to some other individual..... " ti not come clean, it will hurt you."
http://m.twitter.com/dedejustdede
Anyway, just in case either of you need to access twitter comments today, simply replace the "www" header with m.
Continue and close?!? What the heck does that mean?
Staton said investigators have obtained no physical evidence of Kyron since he disappeared. They are continuing to sift through the records they've subpoened, prioritize leads and "starting to develop this into a case that could be prosecuted."
Ok, so LE has zero physical evidence but they're developing a prosecutable case? A case from what? Lies, assumptions, and suppositions?
Spending two hours questioning a Portland family isn’t that long considering Kyron’s been missing for 7 weeks. There is a huge resemblance. And traveling to El Paso... I mean, hello, can you say makin’ a run for the border? What if they’d ignored it and it really was Kyron? Good for Texas for taking the time to look into this.
Ya know, I've been known to confuse appointment dates so she could have initially thought it was on the 4th and that's why the classmates thought it was that day if Kyron had told them. IIRC, the teacher couldn't say specifically which date the appointment was supposed to be. Kaine claims to know nothing about an appoint (geez, he's a few noodles short of chow mein). Has LE or anyone bothered to call the doctor to find out the real date and if Terri had called the day before to verify the appointment time?
While the whole Cook affair is off the wall crazy, I'm still on the fence if the MFH is much ado about nothing. And this Dede hoopla might be nothing more than her going to lunch without telling anyone and her giving Terri advice may be to not incriminate herself anymore with the LE. I mean, LE has her, Terri, in their sights so anything she does or says will only be more ammunition to be used against her. Just trying to see both sides here.
Feel free to join in. :)
