New PC: WinXP or Win 7?
FreeRepublic ^ | 6/30/2010 | Oshkalaboomboom

My old computer died the other day and I'm picking up a new one tomorrow. I always load the OS myself and for the last few times I've stayed with XP Pro SP3 because it's stable and reliable for what I use the pc for. I've heard decent things about Windows 7 but for now I'm thinking of staying with XP. If you had the chance to reload your pc today would you stick with XP or move to Win 7, and why? No flavors of Unix are an option, I'm sure it's a great OS but I want Windows for this one so just opinions on those 2 please.

Sorry, Keith, I should have pinged you to the previous Reply #79 as well, since they were discussing your reply #2. - Swordmaker

OMG. You clearly are the biggest troll on these forums. When you can’t even admit something as obvious as post #2 was a pro mac post in a thread that had nothing to do with Macs and was only in regards to windows. Yet when someone posts in a Mac thread that is off topic or pro-windows you go apey and cry to the mods and then ping all your macbots crying for help because your feelings got hurt.

And they call Puget a GD evil liar. I’d hate to hear what they refer to you as.

When the next version of Windows is released, people will be sticking with Windows 7, just as they did with XP when Vista came out. Definitely get Windows 7; it’s that good.

Yet when someone posts in a Mac thread that is off topic or pro-windows you go apey and cry to the mods and then ping all your macbots crying for help because your feelings got hurt.

You did not say it was "Pro Mac" you claimed it was "talking bad about Windows in a Windows thread" and your definition of bad comments seems to have a VERY LOW threshold before you are offended.

It is NOT anti-Windows... nor is it the hateful, insult laden, ad hominem filled attack posts that flood Mac/Apple threads. It does not target Windows USERS. Just because it was "pro-Mac," Does not mean it was necessarily ANTI- Windows.

Off topic and pro-Windows comments in Mac threads are OK and can stimulate good discussion... it's the nastiness attacking users or lies that gets the response you decry. You are one of the prime offenders of the nastiness in your primary posts. Omit the slurs and attacks on USERS, and you can attack the platform all you like... so long as it's truthful. If it's not truthful, I will correct the information, with links to the correct information. Call the users names like "Macbots, cultists, mind-washed robots, dolts, Apple worshippers, Gay," or claim that they kiss Steve Jobs rear end, etc., and you will not be welcome in Mac Threads, and will be treated like skunks at a picnic.

Try to grasp the difference between truthfully CRITICIZING the PLATFORM, hardware, software, or even promoting the competition and gratuitously belittling, INSULTING and ATTACKING the USERS. The second is what I have been challenging you to show us from Mac users toward Windows users in Windows threads...

They refer to me with Thanks.

It was clearly meant to be disruptive and anyone without their fanboy goggles on would see that.

You can take post #86 and read it as though it were addressed to you, too. You are also one of the worst offenders in Mac/Apple threads. Try to grasp the difference I've outlined. You've claimed thread equivalency in the type and degree of insults ... I disagree. Show us the slurs and insults from Mac users towards Windows users such as you Windows fans have directed towards Mac users in the quantity we experience in Mac/Apple/iPhone threads.

Post #2 is NOT a slur or insult to anyone. If you think it is, then you have a problem.

It was clearly meant to be disruptive and anyone without their fanboy goggles on would see that.

The only ones who seem to be "disrupted" by it are you and driftdiver. Everyone else, from my reading until way late in the thread, ignored it... and proceeded to give germane on-topic advice to Oshkalaboomboom

I came on here to advise Oshkalaboomboom to get Windows7... but decided he had enough advice already. I only posted when Thurston made his comment that implied that only Apple did business with Foxconn... correcting that mis-information.

Then you made your snarky comment to me telling Keith about shutting up "Macbots" in Windows threads. I responded politely that was not, in my opinion, a comment that was negative about Windows. You went into attack mode against me, again, complete with ad hominem attacks and insults. Both you and driftdiver have been escalating since then. I guess you just cannot help yourself.

propaganda, I admit I was wrong. You don’t work for Apple, you must work for MSNBC.

“I responded politely that was not, in my opinion, a comment that was negative about Windows. “

Its good to know thats the standard.

The Mac OS is not secure and is vulnerable to arbitrary code execution. The real meaning of arbitrary code execution, not the fantasy version you use.

In my opinion that is not a negative comment.

You’re a liar. In my opinion that is not a negative comment.

You’re a troll. In my opinion that is not a negative comment.

>>>OMG....Swordmaker please explain to Keith that macbots should never talk bad about windows in a windows thread.

Explain to me what I said bad about windows in my comment. My says nothing about Windows at all. You people and your OS bigotry is sickening. I happen to have plenty of experience with PCs as a CompTia A+ Technician - which is exactly why my primary computer at home is a Mac.

When it comes to for-q-clinton & driftdiver - do as I do and “ignoreanuses”.

I’m holding you to that... Note that it means not just YOUR “version” of truth, though...

So for the original poster, I’d recommend getting Win7; it can do everything that WinXP does, and runs WinXP great in a full-screen mode.

And about the Mac suggestion - I’d say avoid it, it’s too expensive for what you get, and if you do technical work, then realize that all the decent (or in fact, pretty much ONLY) technical design software (schematic capture, PCB layout, 3D CAD) is on Windows, so having a Mac simply doesn’t work.

Yea, or you could just show some common sense and common courtesy and NOT post on an XP vs Win7 thread where you obviously have nothing to contribute except sound bites and talking points.

With that kinda spin you should ask for a job at MSNBC or CNN.

I’ll believe you’re serious when you say the same to those two “igonranuses” in regard to Mac threads. Have you ever admonished them similarly? Give me links.
