Mexican singer Sergio Vega was murdered while on a national tour at the weekend, just hours after denying reports of his death, local media reported.
The 40-year-old singer, known as El Shaka, was driving his red Cadillac to a concert in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa on Saturday when his car was intercepted by unidentified shooters in a truck, reports said.
His murder came just hours after he told entertainment website La Oreja that online reports of his death were wrong.
"It's happened to me for years now, someone tells a radio station or a newspaper I've been killed, or suffered an accident," said Vega.
"And then I have to call my dear mum, who has heart trouble, to reassure her."

Not to be confused with EL CHAKRA.........
I was thinking more along the lines of...what if Monty Python did Mexican telenovelas?
did Al gore write the song for him?
Because you're dead?
He looks as if his “Chakra” had just been pleased!
“What happens to Vega, stays with Vega...”
I once had a dream--honest, I did--that Buddy Holly wasn't actually dead but living on an island somewhere. As soon as his survival was revealed and it looked like we were going to get some more great music he died.
(You see, it had to be a dream because Buddy Holly didn't disappear at sea or anything . . . )
There is a singer named Jenni Rivera who is from LA, but who is very popular in the same areas of Mexico. She received a death threat via Twitter from “Zeettas” a couple of days ago. Her answer was something like, “You are idiots. Real assassins don’t advertise what they are going to do, they just do it.” Sounds kind of like, “Mirame, cabrones, estoy vivo!” I hope she isn’t tempting fate. But she did cancel her wedding in Mazatlan, one can only assume for reasons of security and a desire not to endanger her guests.
Thanks for the info, La Lydia!
“I’m not dead suckers, hahahahaha”
You’re dead mofo. Booom!
