Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga has a very dark side, according to the author of a new book 'The Trouble with Twilight.'
On the eve of the release 'Eclipse' Television producer, occult researcher and bestselling author Steve Wohlberg says

People not having a personal grounding in their lives fall prey to all kinds of nonsense, much of it devised by the Enemy who hates them and wants them eternally dead. Goth/Twilight/Gay/Lesbo/Wiccan/Witch/Warlock makes for a really happy lifestyle, don't it?
However, it was banned from the LDS Church-owned Deseret Books after complaints from Church members about it's heavy content of teen activities that violated Church standards (e.g. Bella and Edward lying in bed together at night, after Edward has snuck in Bella's bedroom window to avoid detection by Bella's father), and a lot of other generally unwholesome stuff that isn't exactly "uplifting".
REAL vampirism??? If Wohlberg thinks there's such a thing as real vampirism, he's a *lot* more unhinged than the silly teenagers who are going through a phase of pretending to be vampires.

I met a young lady today while getting my car fix, she had a bumper sticker that said “Pagans make better lovers”. I should have offered to test the theory. She also had an 0bama in 08 window banner - barf.
I am glad that I am not the parent of a teenage girl, if I was my kid would HATE me. Although I found the Twilight series pretty much mindless entertainment, it was pretty tame.
However, this craze that has developed and led to books like one I partially read recently called “Eternal Hunger” by Cynthia Eden. Listed as a ‘Paranormal Romance’ it was really more along the lines of one of those X-rated sex stories that are sent in to Hustler magazine. I am not kidding, VERY explicit and is the first book I have EVER encountered from a public library that should have had an adults only warning label.
Actually, most of it is very demonstrably devised by for-profit companies who love the fans' money and want them eternally alive and buying the endless stream of obsession-feeding junk that said companies are spewing out to induce the fans to hand over their money.

When I was 16, I was obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED, with the Beatles. But I never was inclined to take drugs just because they did, or any other sinful things they talked about in their songs. (Half of the lyrics were over my head anyway.) I grew up very normal and a right-wing conservative who takes her Catholic faith very seriously.
Edward give emotional whiplash and physical pain to everyone involved with him, yet he is represented as being the only possible love of this girl’s life. She actually throws herself into the sea out of desperation to be near him.
The girl seemed passive-aggressive and very manipulative. In the spirit of full disclosure, I was forced to watch this movie while enroute to Iraq. In order to prepare us for enemy psyops, they played it about 17 times. Where was Van Helsing when we needed him?
Yes, but the responsible adults should offer guidance.
I remember when my boys were younger, I would let them watch things on TV other parents wouldn’t, but I would sit with them and discuss what was going on from a rational, biblical point of view.
If my daughters wanted to read the books, I would talk to them about it. I would ask questions like, “What do you think about Bella’s judgement, when she is following someone around who’s told her he is dangerous and a bad guy?”
I loved the Beatles also. But I’d hope you had an adult in your life that mentioned that the drug mentality was unhappy, and that running to India searching for gurus was foolish.
I remember actually discussing the Beatles with one son, who loved their music. We spent some time talking about that John Lennon had no decent parents and spent time casting about for something to believe in, but drugs, eastern religions and adultery were emotional dead ends.
This does not negate muscial genius, and we also talked about how people will give such people a “pass”- and how that can lead to destruction.
I always searched for teachable moments in the popular culture. The trick to doing it is to not make it a lecture, but a true moment of sharing.
Not to mention that the books had a lot of intentional humor in them--and I don't mean the silly plot, but some pretty good gags. Edward is really something of a prude, grumpy, self-righteous and designed to be so. Bella is a terrible clutz. But she drives an old, rusty truck and holds down a part-time job, takes care of her dad, feels horrible guilt when she lies to him...
I think too much is being made of this. The book has many moral dilemmas, so at least the author knows about morals.
I’ve watched the Twilight movies with my 18 year old daughter. She’s constantly grousing about how stupid Bella is to choose Edward over Jacob.
And that’s the extent of it. She’s just as likely to be drawn to vampires as a result of watching these movies as she is to be drawn to Klingons as a result of watching TNG.
Yes, I have read the books(I really enjoyed them) and watched the movies (they were not nearly as good as the books).
The “morals” to the stories are frankly obvious, and the storyline itself has no direct relation to the “occult”.
Standard good versus evil tale, with good winning in the end.
“Bella” is not being “stalked/abused/manipulated/etc”, just a fictional young woman acting like a typical teenager in love.
Frankly, I prefer my daughter read these type books than most of the crappy “pornography” that the publishing houses push as “romance novels” for teens.
Only a true “religious extremist geek” could read the book series and possibly interpret them as “evil/occult”.

Sex does show up in ‘Breaking Dawn.’
Bella and Edward get married - and have a honeymoon.
Bella becomes pregnant with Edward’s vampire child.
Also a gang rape is alluded to in ‘Eclipse.’
Bella is taken advantage of by her best non-vampire friend, Jacob, who forces a kiss on her.
etc..
