these HVAC warranties are more feel-good than real
I had a furnace heat exchanger with a 10 yr warranty crack after 7 years.
Basically they charge just about in labor on a warranty job what they would charge for parts + labor on a non warranty.
In my case I told them to stuff it and put in a new furnace of a different brand
You might try and email the support department of the manufacturer of the heat pump and ask them what they think a warranty replacement should cost. They at least ought to be able to tell you the standard number of hours and estimated ounces/pounds of freon-whatever needed to change the compressor....it may take awhile to get back to them but I’m sure they will answer....just be persistent....best advice I can give you...
