A Florida teacher convicted of having sex with two of her students, was called a sexual predator today by a judge who sentenced her to 10 years in prison.
Stephanie Ragusa, wearing an orange jumpsuit, cried at one point during her sentencing hearing, but nodded her head in approval as Circuit Judge Chet Tharpe also imposed five years of sexual offender probation on the 31-year-old defendant.
"You were a teacher," Tharpe said. "And as parents, we place our trust in teachers to provide a safe environment in which our children can learn. You violated that trust in the worst imaginable way. You preyed on these young boys..."
The judge described Ragusa's demeanor during her court appearances as arrogant. "You had a very lackadaisical attitude on your face, smiling, jovial," Tharpe said. "If I had to sum up your attitude in one word, it would be arrogance. I don't know as we stand here today that you truly appreciate the harm that you caused. I honestly believe, Ms. Ragusa, that you are a sexual predator. And I honestly believe that you are a danger to children in our community."
Ragusa, a former math teacher at Davidsen Middle School in Tampa, Fla., pleaded guilty in April to three counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a 14-year-old boy, and two counts of having unlawful sex with a minor involving a 16-year-old student. The assaults occurred in 2008.

She must have some kind of mental illness. Not saying she isn't guilty. She looks like she's a bit looney.
The frequent outcome is hypersexualization, resulting in the young male becoming basically a sociopathic predator himself. Lots of fun for all those babies having babies in the projects, but not a good career move and not good for the community as a whole.
What a dumb C.
Hope it was worth it. In my opinion, nothing feels so good that it’s worth ten years in the slam.
The verdict on this one should be self-evident.
that’s because you’re not 31 going on 13 like these immature kids of today. Mom and Dad baby them and they are still teenagers when they are 30.
Not bad. And..not guilty!
Jesus..10 years?! But then the feds don’t give a damn that we underlings have to pay for it.
If she had done that to me at 14, I wouldn’t have ratted her out. Wrong? Yes..but not worth 10 years.
No kidding. I taught that age. I like kids that age, but they are NOT attractive in that way at all. Big ick factor.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. The generations coming up (not all certainly, many younger folk do become adults) tend not to ever grow up. They stay kids forever.
Mom and Dad baby them and they are still teenagers when they are 30.
The insight of the thread.
It's all that self-esteem, California stuff you know. And of course there are women, emotional pushovers for Baby Obama and Baby Barney.
DING DING DING we got a winnah!
Perhaps you would like to donate your child to her?
Was Nurse Ratched seducing the cuckoo birds?
I love Nurse Ratched’s hairdo ! </ sarc>
Didn't look so arrogant at her sentencing. She deserved it, but it is still sad to me.
Yes. I meet lots of great young people who give me confidence in our future. However, they are not the majority. Meanwhile, I have one of my libby chums from HS telling me how happy she is that Obamacare will cover people’s kids until age 26. This is the mindset out there.
Oh, and here’s another concept. My dad always told me that back in the day, people wanted to leave home and grow up because home was not so cushy - maybe you had to share a room and the food was limited, etc. I just saw a video from an education consultant who gave stats as follows: In 1990, 30-35 percent of adults 18-26 lived at home with Mom&Pop. In 2006, that number was 65 percent. Unbelievable!!!!!! They will drive sports cars, have mani-pedis and never pay a dime in rent either.
Perhaps suspended sentence..... ;o)
