Here’s another Hollywood anecdote involving Faulkner. Working as a screen writer at MGM (as I recall), he found it impossible to concentrate. So, he told his boss he was going home to work. A couple of weeks pass, and no one heard anything from Faulkner. The studio sent someone to his residence in the Los Angeles area, and no sign of Bill. Finally, they made a call to Faulkner’s home in Oxford, where (sure enough) he had gone to work.

As you might imagine, Faulkner’s tenure in Hollywood was rather brief.
