One tomato plant dead, the others hanging on. The ones on the side deck keep getting taller and taller but haven't produced so much as a flower bud yet. Peppers seem to be perking up with regular watering and a, "*AHEM* 'liberal' dosing of Sevin once a week. Keeps the critters off the buds. The hanging tomatoes are about one more semi-ripe Roma away from giving up the ghost, I think. But, I bought a nice, pre-caged mini heirloom bush tomato plant and put it on the table on the back porch, and it seems happy. Loaded with little green tomatoes. The local hardware store is getting rid of their pre-staked cherry tomato plants, so I bought one for the grandson and I put it the front porch in the shade. I had to use an extra 6' stake because it was getting unruly, but it's loaded with tomatoes and buds. The grandkid likes coming downstairs (he and Mom live in the mother-in-law apartment in the upstairs of our house), and raiding the plant every morning. The kid's barely three, and he's developed a major taste for Paw Paw's tomatoes. LOL And my V-8 juice - I gotta buy the low-sodium by the 12-pack if I plan on getting any. We're finally getting some rain, which is good - the strawberries have stopped flowering, and my Granny Smith apples are only the size of golf balls. Down here in the lower latitudes, things like apples (if you can grow them) start coming off the tree in August.
I swear I'm moving to the West Virginia mountains and starting a farm.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."
