THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS TO UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
NORTHERN IOWA CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA WESTERN WISCONSIN
MORE INTENSE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING NEAR THE DEVELOPING SURFACE LOW AND WARM FRONT...FROM NORTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA INTO ADJACENT PORTIONS OF MINNESOTA.
THESE STORMS WILL OCCUR AMIDST VERY STRONG INSTABILITY AND SUBSTANTIAL VERTICAL WIND SHEAR. NUMEROUS SUPERCELLS APPEAR LIKELY WITH THE GREATEST RISK OF VERY LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS...AND A COUPLE OF TORNADOES EXISTING ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA.
STRONG TO INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE INTO THE EVENING FROM MINNESOTA INTO EXTREME NORTHERN IOWA...AND ADJACENT AREAS OF WESTERN WISCONSIN. AS THESE STORMS CONGEAL AND LOW THROUGH MID LEVEL WINDS BECOME A BIT MORE UNIDIRECTIONAL...THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS SHOULD INCREASE ACROSS THESE AREAS. LARGE HAIL AND EVEN A TORNADO OR TWO WILL REMAIN A POSSIBILITY INTO THE LATE EVENING WITH DISCRETE STORMS INITIATING ON THE SOUTHWEST FLANK OF THE LARGER STORM COMPLEX...FROM SOUTHERN MINNESOTA INTO PARTS OF EASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA AND NORTHWEST IOWA.

Looks like its not due in Southern Michigan till tomorrow morning.
Just really really soggy up here on Duluth.
Soggy and now foggy too. Every time it stops raining for more than 10 minutes I rush out and mow my grass.
Opps. Don’t listen to me. I had no idea this was going on on the other side of town:
Heavy winds and thunderstorms rolled through the Duluth and Superior areas Thursday evening, causing damage from downed trees and power lines, along with some flooding.
Duluth firefighters were called to the area of 64th Avenue West in Duluth where two trees fell on a house. They also handled calls of power lines down in that area, according to fire officials. No one was injured.
Like the area hasn’t suffered enough lately...
