I found this great site that has pictures of tomatoes suffering from the stress of a lack of one nutrient.

I added a high N fertilizer today, with a bit of P and K.

Red Devil we had a foot of rain in just a few days. Fortunately we’ve had temps in the 90’s so things dry out fairly quickly.

Thankfully we are supposed to get a week of dry. You should see the damn weeds.

I took 35 photos of vegetable gardens on the home tour today and deciding which ones to post is overwhelming me. Let me open another bottle of Cabernet and get back to you later...

A few of the vegetable garden photos I took on the garden tour today. There were 8 sites but half of them were flowers and ornamentals. These are of 2 of the gardens...

Hosted on Fotki

I got 2 duplicates and I'm leaving them rather then messing them all up... TB

So please tell me about the squash on trellises.

Talk to JustaDumbBlonde about squash on trellises. She's the expert and will probably post some pictures. In fact she has soem picuters of her farm in the first 50 posts on this thread.

I see somebody else is using the concept of red reflected light on their tomatoes. The problem with mine is that my tomatos are so thick and leafy that I can't see the red trays any more. I wonder how the ones in your garden tour are getting watered? Do they have some kind of soaker hose under the platic? THat is red plastic, isn't it?

Be careful of your bottle of Skin so Soft if you set it down on a formica counter top after you’ve slathered yourself. It will eat the surface of Formica away. I wonder what it is doing to your skin?

We had 4 inches of rain in 24 hours. Yesterday I dumped 3 inches out of the rain guage. THe storm flattened all my corn, I propped them up with some top soil I had, but I need more.

I ate my first cherry tomato. My lettuce is just about ready to be pulled. Our early frost date is somewhere between October 2 and October 15. When can I replant spinach and lettuce?

I used it on the AT thirty years ago, and I'm still here. I'll pass that advice re: formica to the boss.

I’ve not used Skin So Soft very often, or anything else, so I am not aware of any problems. Even though there is a large swampy area behind my property, I dont use anything for skeeters here. The local skeeters seem to only come out to feed early morning and about dark. I guess they cant take the hot sun and humidity here either. Now go beyond my fence into the shady swamp, they will carry you away.

I was being eaten alive, and we had company over. One of the ladies gave me a bottle of SOS and told me to go put some on. I went in and slathered this oily substance all over my exposed skin. I was in a hurry because of my guests. and I set the bottle down on the counter and rejoined the party. The bottle, which was oily from the contents, made a mark on my countertop. It bleached the Formica everywhere it touched and actully roughened the surface.

SOS has mineral oil in it. That could be what damaged your counter top.

I’m just warning to wipe the bottle off carefully after use and don’t set it on Formica. Also, don’t splash Naval Jelly on Corian. Corian is tough as nails and easily resurfaced, but Naval Jelly will actually dissolve it. I think that it is the only substance that can harm Corian. The good news is that you can have it repaired and you won’t even know that your husband spiffing up the fireplace tools ate a hole in your counter top! Oooops. Did I let that slip?

How much Naval Jelly will the guy need to clean this up? It looks like a corn planter to me but...

He must have just dug this out of the swamp at the back of property. This place was interesting as he had a mini-farm on about 6,000 sq ft. of the back yard. He had a 2 small horses, a donkey, ducks, geese and chickens...

Family reunion today ... 3 kids, DILs, 7 grandchildren, inlaws, and extended family all here. Haven’t had time, but I will catch up with the thread and respond as soon as I can ... didn’t want y’all to think I was ignoring everybody.

Have a great time. We did that last year for our 50th anniversary. 20 children and grandchildren + 25 more friends. It was exhausting, even though all the kids and grandkids helped.
