LOL, you're not pushing socialized sports are you?
But you're right, I'm talking about the product of international pro soccer, not kiddie recreation.
The fact is they want to sell this product to the US market. If they don't, they even bigger socialist idiots than I thought. But they have a real problem with their product, a problem that will turn off a lot of Americans like myself.
Did you miss the call in 1st minutes? US goal called off. Replay showed US was was 2 feet offsides. Refs made correct call.
In the linesman's defense, I'll say that I thought it was offside too when I saw the play live.

From the linesman's angle on the field, it was pretty clear.
Well i do agree that the referees did a horrible “overall” job during this tournament.
But this happens.
And it hits all teams sometimes.
Sometimes you have luck sometimes you don´t have it.
But isn´t it even more fun to still win even you had no
luck with the calls?
The good teams usually will prevail even they will get their
“fair” share of bad calls too.
This is soccer.
Thanks for making my point for me! ;0)
Letting the refs decide the outcome of the game kills it. They are far more influential to the result than any American sport. They either need better refs with more accountability, more refs/linesmen to make better offsides calls, or use technology.
Resisting those improvements will make the soccer powers-that-be seem like the baseball dinosaurs here who carp about "tradition."
And bad calls in baseball rarely decide the entire outcome of the game.
LOL, you're not pushing socialized sports are you?
LOL!!! No not at all....
I have a well documented history in opposition to Sports Pork.
I think commuter rail systems are a much more responsible investment of public infrastructure funds.
That's the angle we always have on TV.
I would also point out that it is usually the angle I have when I watch horse races live. (I usually sit someplace around the 16th pole.) I am very rarely wrong on close finishes.

No i have to disagree.
The last thing i would want for soccer would be
something like to use video to make referee calls.
This would kill this sport! Soccer is a fast game (ok many people in the US might dissagree but anyway). There is NO NEED to stop the game every 2 minutes to watch a stupid Video. And i´m pretty shure most soccer fans around the world do agree with me on this.
Don´t fix whats not broken.
Millions of people around this world love the sport exactly how it is right now. So no need to change this.
Still basking in the moment. But there's still a lot to be bitter about with respect to the officiating, which is marring this whole tournament.
Just in this game, you have the disallowed goal on an incorrect offsides, a booking to Altidore for no contact whatsoever, a booking to Beasley for a "handball" that was actually trapped off the chest, a missed penalty/red card on the foul that split Dempsey's lip, and quite a few more that I'm sure I've already forgotten.
I finally gave up hoping for a break the other way, as it was clear we weren't going to get one.
The officiating impacted the game, and that's almost universally a bad thing in any sport. Sure it was a thrilling finish to overcome that, but the drama is no reason to condone it, or to ignore calls to improve and reform the system.
Everyone thinks the referee is against them.
I don't think I am.
Baseball has 27 outs, for each team. A bad call on one or two rarely directly affects the outcome. Football has around 80 plays a game, and they use video replay. Granted, the pace of the game allows it, and even then the pros haven't managed to implement it as well as the colleges.
That said, I would assume that I am the kind of American that international soccer wants to woo. I WANT to like it as a quality entertainment product, but from what I've seen in this tournament, it has a quite glaring drawback, one that interferes with my enjoyment of it.
Well, it's easy to think so when it's demonstrably true.
Yes but this happens to all teams sometimes.
Believe me it will not be possible to become World champion for example without receiving some bad or even horrible referee calls during the whole tournament.
This is the way it is and allways was.
As said sometimes you have luck sometimes not.
But real good teams usuall prevail even they had bad luck
during a game.
It's not a matter of who they're for or against; it's a matter of the fact that the ref can decide who wins, rather than the players on the field. And he can apparently do so without any explanation or accountability.
To each his own, but I can take it or mostly leave it. I would also say that some of the refereeing in the tournament so far has been atrocious.
It’s not a matter of who they’re for or against; it’s a matter of the fact that the ref can decide who wins, rather than the players on the field. And he can apparently do so without any explanation or accountability.
Haven’t watched an NBA game in ten years.
You’re not missing much.
