USA v Algeria 10am EDT
USA win, they are in!
Great!
U.S.A Vs England final!
Come on....
England!
Now only Germany has to lose tonight and i´m in heaven! ;-)
(Now i will get some flak from all the germans here :-)
Soccer is dead here, stick a fork in it.
Another stupid "market driven" libertarian view?
So what if soccer doesn't generate as much advertising revenue as the NFL or NCAA football?
It's a great competitive team sport for kids to play. They have a great time running around out there kicking the ball, even when they're not old enough to understand what "score a goal" means.
I just left my soccer-playing sister a three-word voicemail: “USA!USA!USA!”
I had given it up and gotten back to work at 90:something and the office exploded. We replayed it two or three times.
A great moment for the Anglosphere!!!
Pandemonium here in my office !
Movie script-like ending is the consensus !
Soccer Rules !
GO USA !!! :-)

vid of the goal....
I was responding to the comment “Soccer is dead here, stick a fork in it.”
And really, what other sporting event allows us to engage in some good old-fashioned rah rah jingoism?
For those who call soccer a boring, dull game, here is an example of one the most exciting, low scoring games on the planet....
One of the most dramatic moments I have ever seen...
A selling point I hadn't considered. You're right, there's no "We're all Euros together" from the European teams. NO. They are German, French, Spanish, English, and so are their fans. Everybody still knows and loves their own country, which gives me hope for the (lack of a) future for the EU.
A great moment for the Anglosphere!!!
I love the NFL football but it should be called "Time Out Football".
This wonderful game continues and you must be involved with the entire game to appreciate the beauty of it. Wow, that was just amazing.
Everyone will forget who started that goal. The goalie had a perfect kick (or was it a throw?) to the an open man all the way down the field.
Yep, my Everton boys (Howard and Donovan (hopefully again)) came through!
The goal was nice. But I think the problem with the news &c. is that for many watching the goal is like watching a replay of a touchdown pass. This would have been a great game even if the goal never happened. It seemed like there were dozens of scoring opportunities and at least a handful of miraculous misses.
ML/NJ
Tim Howard (the goalkeeper) made the throw down the field.
I can't think of a more significant sporting "moment" since Kirk Gibson's home run.
