OK let's get real about the GOM oil flow. There doesn't really seem to be much info on TOD that furthers more complete understanding of what's really happening in the GOM. As you have probably seen and maybe feel yourselves, there are several things that do not appear to make sense regarding the actions of attack against the well. Don't feel bad, there is much that doesn't make sense even to professionals unless you take into account some important variables that we are not being told about. There seems to me to be a reluctance to face what cannot be termed anything less than grim circumstances in my opinion. There certainly is a reluctance to inform us regular people and all we have really gotten is a few dots here and there...
First of all...set aside all your thoughts of plugging the well and stopping it from blowing out oil using any method from the top down. Plugs, big valves to just shut it off, pinching the pipe closed, installing a new bop or lmrp, shooting any epoxy in it, top kills with mud etc etc etc....forget that, it won't be happening..it's done and over. In fact actually opening up the well at the subsea source and allowing it to gush more is not only exactly what has happened, it was probably necessary, or so they think anyway.
So you have to ask WHY? Why make it worse?...there really can only be one answer and that answer does not bode well for all of us. It's really an inescapable conclusion at this point, unless you want to believe that every Oil and Gas professional involved suddenly just forgot everything they know or woke up one morning and drank a few big cups of stupid and got assigned to directing the response to this catastrophe. Nothing makes sense unless you take this into account, but after you do...you will see the "sense" behind what has happened and what is happening. That conclusion is this:
The well bore structure is compromised "Down hole".
That is something which is a "Worst nightmare" conclusion to reach. While many have been saying this for some time as with any complex disaster of this proportion many have "said" a lot of things with no real sound reasons or evidence for jumping to such conclusions, well this time it appears that they may have jumped into the right place...

The only way to be sure....
BP can't obfuscate without the admin's cooperation.
If any a word of this is true, it’s time to set off some nukes.
One may not be enough, but eventually the problem would be turned to glass/vaporized.
Most of the environmental nuts I’ve encountered since this mess started are happy about this deep down inside. You can just tell. Perhaps 0bama is secretly happy about it too? He sure as hell hasn’t had any sense of urgency toward stopping this thing.
OK then, lets do. If the oil hadn't leaked it would have been pumped.........Any projected global catastrophe due to the "empty oil reservoir" would happen anyway.
Wow...just read the whole article and it’sscary as hell! What do we do if we’re really looking at a complete reserve leak out? This is beyond my imagination...
Very...
Fixed.

Now can we nuke it shut the way the Russians do — or is that just urban legend?
I think that is what is creating a lot of fear, that space seemed to eat the mud they put in there and what I gleen is they fear this thing could totally collapse and make matters much worse.
They are drilling two relief wells. Only really need one. My guess is the second one is for the nuke. We have two shots left at stopping this thing. One is the mud and cement route through a relief well and the other will probably be a nuke. If the first relief well misses the main well, it will probably become the nuke well. In that case the second well will try to hit the main well for the mud and cement plugs. Just guessing.
This thing seems like the ultimate "black swan" event. For the first few weeks, it didn't seem like that big of a deal, and now we are getting to the point where we have a real possibility of destroying the GoM (and all of the adjacent coastal communities) for hundreds of years.
Sarc tags are definitely needed for such comments!
Life has a way of fooling us.....
“What do we do if were really looking at a complete reserve leak out?”
.
Easy, just drive more to use up more oil!
Every reservoir we drill eventually will get emptied for at least a few decades, until it refils.
.
There really isn’t any SPACE or any HOLE. The oil and gas fill permeable rock below. When the oil and gas are released there is just less pressure in the rocks.
Two things. First, explosions tend to make holes bigger. Nuclear explosions make very, very big holes. Second, nuclear weapons are not all that easy to make. It is a fairly complicated process. Do you happen to have one handy that will fit into a 20" pipe? Oh, and it has to survive over 2,000 pounds of sea pressure and at least 6,000 pound of pressure in the pipe that you are going to have to somehow shove it in to. Then you have to set it off.
