In the event that the catastrophe takes place which we all are thinking about and talking about in these days under this regime, whether it be a global financial shut-down (see this scenario: http://www.grandpappy.info/honehour.htm), a military strike somewhere, or some such dire event unleashes sudden freeze-up of our society: How do citizens communicate?
CB? Short wave? Our lifeblood is communication. What are our options to maintain this link to patriots across the country?
HAM radio is one tool. As it turns out, this morning I signed up for the classes offered in late September. I have generators for power, but the gas will become tough to get.
I don’t as yet know if it will support sufficient electricity to operate such radios, but I do have a Solar panel system on our Airstream trailer.
I think it’s insane that we have to even think about this kind of stuff.
I just may do that. Thanks!
Yeah. My fault for not being clear. The antenna could be mounted to the tower for the windmill.
And I would pick this type of windmill.
NB 54, the problem is that the internet stoppage will be aimed at you.
You personally on news sites like this.
Work arounds can deal with a short term communication problem, but when the government seeks to silence “subversive activity” such as your internet discussion and your awarness of what is happening in the country, it will be aimed at you and the internet will be a bagel warmer you can use to get information about German Chocolate Cake icing and todays weather and that is it.
Don’t plan on just adapting and getting by. Instead, prepare for the re-education camps.
****If Hams used WindMills, they could kill two birds with one stone. The Windmill would double as the antenna.****
****But the signal would have flutter!****
Sound like an antennae design geeks dream project to me, provided the limitations can be overcome.
No cup of sugar for you...
;>)
I should have added that all of my foregoing will come about because to the leftists they never want a crisis to go to waste. If there is a natural disaster or impact on communications they will truncate the net to silence dissent.
Oil Rig blows out? Let the oil company muck around with abatement while they are completely mired down with stopping the well and thereby convienintly create a bigger crisis to use to shut down drilling.
If we have to resort to homing pigeons, I’ll be on my boat until I see the city lights come back on.
we have preplanned FRS channels to contact the several like minded friends we talked this over with. As well as comm-out plans.
We also have agreements to shelter eachothers families if it gets too bad where we live.
Seek out the good Americans in your community that you closely trust, who have a stockpile and do this. DO NOT tell anyone outside the circle.
Always have a private stash of food, money/gold, weapons, and ammo that you tell no one about. You would be amazed what people will do when they are desperate, even friends.
James Wesley Rawles wrote a fiction book about this process called “Patriots”. It’s a great guide (and story) to get you started in the right direction. God Bless.
****And I would pick this type of windmill.****
I don’t know the efficiency rating of that windmill, but it looks positively organic. Like it was made from a seashell or something.
We all meet up at the tea party!
The propensity to brag is responsible for many criminals arrests. It can work against righteous people ,too. That is why privacy is important;everyone does not need to know everything about you.

lots of good back-to-basics country living non-electric items for purchase.
The problems you cite with it are why I said planning would be necessary. There are a number of FReepers who don’t live in the U.S. as well. I deliberately did not write out my comment with details. Also, I am not saying people should not look at the alternatives that are being discussed here.
That sounds like fun.
I signed up to take the beginners class that is offered in lat September... you will someday hear from me.... from the top of my mountain near Port Angeles, Washington.
