Terrifying too is that the family assumed she’d been kidnapped.

Evidently South of the Border is not a great place to be.

The same way the reality show producer who had his passport taken by the Mexican authorities after his wife was found murdered.

Next thing we know he’s right back here in the USA.

I wouldn’t assume the Peruvian authorities are buying his BS.

Greta and O’R must have had a nice little dog ‘n pony show going there.

Joran skipped out of Aruba 3 days after the U.S. Attorney issued the extortion/fraud complaint in the U.S.. The U.S. has no jurisdiction in Aruba. They have to rely on Aruban authorities for assistance, and we know how cooperative they’ve been for the last 5 years. They’ve done everything for the Van Der Sloots - lie, cover up, destroy evidence, ridicule the Holloway family, denigrate dead Natalee, obfuscate, stall, and make a mockery of their own law.

I’ll give you three guesses who tipped Joran off that the U.S. was about to transmit and request an arrest warrant in Aruba.

It ain’t rocket surgery.

It wasn’t about the laptop. This is Joran’s first tack at damage control. He knows they have him dead to rights. He’s trying to confess to killing her in a way and for a reason that carries a much lighter sentence than the sentence that goes with the crime that the evidence suggests actually happened.

Yes, I bet he made up a story on the spot. There’s a lot more to it, IMO. He makes it sound like he got a bit miffed and smacked her, accidentally killing her. But that wouldn’t explain the sexual assault, roofies(?) in the car, and and “overkill.”

I believe the poster was referring to early indications that sexual predators and other felons were going to be hired as door-to-door census workers. I would hope you would agree that to do so would be truly disgusting. I also hope that the stink raised when this was announced was enough to curb Zero for pandering to some of his most reliable voter bases.

I doubt anyone here objects to a constitutionally and responsibly conducted census. I saw today that Glen Beck said this year's census will cost $14.5B vs Clinton's 2000 census at $4.0B. That's a 222% increase. Over the same ten-year period, the Consumer Price Index increased by 27%, and the US population increased by 10%; thus, if the same technology were used this year as used in 2000, the cost should be no more than about 40% higher, or no more than about $6.3B. With the improvements in information technology over the past decade, and with this year's poor job market, one would think the job could be done at something of a discount. One can only conclude that Zero is squandering another $8.2B.

Having leaked their intention to hire census workers for only 90 days, laying them off, then rehiring them (so they can double count the new jobs) shows Zero's administration sees this, as well as every other aspect of government, as toys with which they can play their power games. I wouldn't doubt that many census workers are unemployed Zero constituents -- e.g., union members? That doesn't mean they all are, but I'm guessing there are far more workers on the payroll than are needed to do the job.

"So if you gave the minimum constitutional info..number only..no hastle."

I did likewise. I provided the number, ages and genders of residents, and termed them all "Americans". That was the end of it. One of my friends who works on the census told me that 3 answers are considered "responsive" and no further follow up will take place. I can live with that. I've never given them more on previous census drives, and never had a follow up visit.

“...so she was messing with his laptop. Not really a thing to kill over...”

Obviously, you don’t know anyone well, or haven’t lived with someone, who has no impulse control. The tiniest thing (or non-thing) will set them off. It doesn’t have to make sense and it doesn’t have to be a big deal. A lot of wives spend their lives walking on eggshells simply to avoid being physically abused, or dead, wives. You add booze into the mix and it’s worse. Considering where Joran picked up the girl, there’s a pretty good chance they were drunk.

Have you been reading or hearing about the total corruption of the census process.

Yes, there have been several incidents. No, there is NOT a "total corruption" of the Census process.

Hiring and firing the same people over and over so they can get the job count up.

Yes, in many instances, this is being done.

The level of corruption is unprecedented.

No, it's not.

If the shoe doesn’t fit you, why are up so up in arms?

As I have posted before, many temporary Census workers are veterans. Agitators spreading misinformation and bile about the 2010 Census could possibly get some of these people hurt, and honest citizens in trouble with the unthinking machinery of government.

Full disclosure: I have worked for the Census in three temporary phases since April 2009. If I observe "corruption", Free Republic will be the first to know. I've been a FR Constitutionalist since 1997, and I'm not one to put up with any statist fascist crap.

It wasn’t about his stupid laptop. It was about robbery. He’s trying to get a lighter sentence, otherwise he wouldn’t give them the time of day.

“They don’t realize that the Constitution actually calls for a Census.”

I’ve given basic Census date, but nothing more. It irked me, though. I know that no matter what the numbers show Hussein will be sure the books are cooked to boost his agenda. He has all the power; we have none.

“There is no death penalty or life sentence in Peru.” CNN

The Peruvian prison system is such that there is little need for either.

Blame the corrupt people not the people who complain about the corruption.

This is billions of taxpayer dollars being stolen.
