I saw a T/C pistol in 300 winmag (or another above .308 caliber, I can’t recall which) in a gun store in Wyoming. The shop guy said it had only been fired a few times before being put on consignment. No takers. I wonder why?

I observed a similar situation with a 416 Weatherby Mag rifle. The 3rd prospective owner carried it out to the firing line at American Shooting Center in San Diego. The rifle came with a box of ammo. 18 cartridges remaining from the original full box of 20. Prospective owner #3 was reducing the inventory to 17. The current owner stood behind him and captured the rifle in flight after the trigger was pulled. Another range employee broke the fall of the shooter so he didn't hit his head on the concrete floor. No sale. A rifle fired only 3 times and offered with 17/20 original cartridges.

Some firearms are just way over the top.

I had the pleasure of shooting a 1911 style pistol in 45 Winchester Magnum. The LAR Grizzly. After 10 rounds, the stippled backstrap made a significant impression in the web of my hand. It was less intense than the 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk with 300 gr .454 Casull (Hornady) at 1500 fps. Those rounds sting your palm and leave your whole body a nervous, quivering mess after 20 rds.
