could you be any more obnoxious? Check your blood pressure lately?
Molly, I’ve stumbled upon this thread and I saw the frustration you’re having. I read it to the end, and then came back to this earlier post to contact you.
I’m gonna try to help explain the fan reaction to you. Maybe I’m doing it because I need the practice, and I want to see if I can make a break through for you.
I’m no Rush fan. My favorite is Michael Savage, and wouldn’t call myself a fan of his either. I’m too critical. (None of the big radio talkers show any real interest (excepting minor star Melanie Morgan from recollection) to really organize against the Left and the RINOs.)
Here is my read:
I’d say what bugs the Rush fans is that the money he pays Elton John came in great part because they are fans of Rush. He gets his ratings and money BECAUSE they are fans. They pay money to buy stuff directly from him and also to buy from his sponsors, plus the money he gets from radio stations because they keep his Arbitron ratings so high.
IOW, what you call Rush’s money came to him BECAUSE of his fans.
And they feel betrayed.
FR gives Rush’s fans a chance to talk back to Rush whereas they have much more limited access to him on radio through his screener.
And on FR, they have much more likelihood to realize that they have a great number of others who feel the same way. And misery loves company. So they can commiserate with each other and vent at the same time.
And you stepped in the middle of it.
Now maybe Rush will hear of it, and not give a damn. And maybe he’ll make an apology. But I really would have my doubts as to the sincerity of it. I think he thinks of his money as his, just as you do.
I figure whatever the bad appearances from him giving a dime to Elton John he figures will blow over. The fans will get over it.
Like any man who rises to the top in his field, there is always the danger that he takes his fans far too much for granted, and it will show. Rush knows how to play humility very well “Talent on loan from God” and all that. But I haven’t seen any real humility lately, and certainly not from his choice of wedding entertainment and the feeling of his audience about the Elton.
So save your breath Molly. You don’t need to defend Rush from fans he let down today. They’ll soon love him tomorrow again anyway. And you won’t have been banned from FR. At least not for this anyway.
“THEIR DECISION, THEIR MONEY.”
True. However, I won’t even spend $15 on a movie with a lib stars ‘cause I know where that money will end up eventually. $1,000,000? Better to flush it down the toilet. But that’s just me...
