Elon John Sings At Limbaugh’s Fourth Wedding Openly gay singer was reportedly paid $1 million to perform at event

Singer Elton John received a $1 million fee to perform in front of 400 guests celebrating radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's fourth wedding Saturday night, People Magazine reports. Limbaugh, 59, wed Kathryn Rogers, 33, at the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage while John is openly gay and in a civil partnership with male partner David Furnish. Celebrity guests at the wedding reportedly included former Bush adviser Karl Rove, baseball slugger George Brett, former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and golfer Tom Watson.

According to People, the couple met six years ago, while Rogers was running a charity golftournament and Limbaugh was in the process of divorcing for the third time. The Palm Beach Post reported that as many as 50 private security guards were hired for the wedding.

Web site Gawker.com hired a plane to fly over the wedding site towing a banner that read "Rush: Congrats on your 4th marriage. XO, Gawker." The saying on the banner was chosen from suggestions made by readers. Rejected suggestions included "This time he really means it," "Wishing you months of bliss," and "Congrats on #4 from those of us who can't have 1."

Why would Rush hire and pay so extravagantly someone who probably hates him?

It’s up to him who he hired, but why hire a pusher of the homosexual agenda? I certainly would not.

Whatever, his wedding.

In the minds of liberals it’s somehow “hypocritical” to be against homo marriage while at the same time hiring a homo musician. Doesn’t make any sense, but of course libs never do.

I am guessing Elton John was the new bride’s choice. It doesn’t really matter. I just hope that Rush is happy. That is all that matters. That is all any of us want ... just to be happy and content.

Rush determined the monetary limit of Elton's righteous indignation. (How much he'd "sell out" to Rush for.) And that he could match it with ease and with millions to spare.

Rush is a music lover..and if he wanted this and could afford it, good luck. Who knows, maybe Elton is a friend of Rush’s bride. If anyone is to be scorned it should be Elton for TAKING the money..but he’s a whore and a not very thrifty one at that!

Last time Rush got married I actually knew before most everyone else. I was good friends with Tony Snow at that time and he called me the night before to tell me he was guest hosting Rush’s show because Rush had gotten secretly married. It all hit the air the next day, but for that one brief moment, I was on the INSIDE! LOL!

Believe me, the gay community is PO'd!

But unfortunately for now, the whole story feels like a bit of a gross business transaction, as if all it takes for Elton John to overlook someone's anti-gay politics is a cool, crisp $1 million. That may help Elton John's pocket book. But it certainly doesn't help his reputation among activists in this country who are working day in and day out for LGBT equality.

Sir Elton John an Uncle Tom?
7:38 PM | Posted by Ethan August

Did Sir Elton John just stick a knife in my back and twist it? It actually feels a lot like something else more painful but I’m a top – I don’t want to go there. News reports are saying that Elton John performed at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding today! I was so confounded at first I thought my brain would short circuit and a seizure would ensue. I broke it down however, and I think I’ve figured it out.

You'd be surprised what singers will take for a private performance. I think Rod Stewart is the same league a million per performance. He just kicks out fewer soccer balls.

BTW, can't fault Elton John. I'd take a million $ for a night's work. And I'll wager Rush and his new bride were very gracious to him. And vice-versa.

The words flying over this are amazing.

Has anyone stopped to consider that Elton John and Rush Limbaugh might actually get along with one another in spite of their political differences?

This is an interesting story in terms of people`s reactions. All along, opponents of gay marriage have been saying we`re not trying to wipe out gays or impede their earning a living or living their lives, we just don`t want gay unions to be regarded as the equal of marriage; gays have said they`re not trying to hurt the concept of family, etc. Here Limbaugh is showing my personal view—I can disagree with someone`s politics, and still be friends or in this case conduct business. Isn`t that what we all say—do what u want in private, I don`t care, this is business. How many gays do we buy cars, groceries, music etc from? How many Eeeevil Conservatives do gays deal with? Isn`t thatg the essential point why private lives should remain private and not be forced on all of us?

Yeah, those Limbaugh Republicans... real “family values” people.

Real conservatives — the kind with real respect for marriage and family — don’t divorce and “remarry”. Anyone who even considers divorce and “remarriage” as an option is not a true conservative, but a liberal hypocrite.

Yeah, that sign is a real pip. I hope I never become so petty that I do something that lame in order to provide a few seconds` annoyance to someone on their wedding day. What kind of emotional pygmy would invest time and money in that? [I know, a lib.]
