Wow, I forgot all about this one year old post!

Thanks for reviving it!

It is indeed D-Day + 67 years!

Let us never forget!

I just watched "The Longest Day" again recently, still a great WWII movie!

John Wayne as Lt. Col. Vandy Vandervoort? Of course!

That reminds me, Henry Fonda as Brigadeer General Theodore Roosevelt. With a cane and a limp.

And by contrast, Patton (who was not part of D-Day except as the 'commander' of the fictitious strike at the Pas de Calais) was in real life, an Olympic athlete, according to Victor Davis Hansen...

I ought to look up some real history about Gen. Roosevelt sometime.

Cheers!

he's Goldfinger!

Wow, you're right, in my minds eye, I remeber his face, (and girth)...LOL!

The IMDB has the following credit for him:

Gert Fröbe ... Sgt. Kaffekanne

That had better not mean what I think it does! :-)

Cheers!

Did you choose that name after the Brits and Americans succeeded in bombing the Third Reich? ;-)

Cheers!

Luftwaffe major: It is getting very difficult to get any sleep around here.

Col. Josef ‘Pips’ Priller: Your prospects for a long sleep have just improved. The invasion has begun at Normandy. We are to fly there and attack with our two planes.

One of the few war movies where you can actually relate to the Germans, and they’re not portrayed as monsters.

4. The Germans were just a few yards short of winning the war when they failed to capture a vital fuel depot.

That would have only prolonged the war. Once the United States got involved, the end was inevitable. The only question was the length of the war.
