Hay, watch it! I can recall taking tubes to the hardware store and using their tube tester. You would buy a replacement for your bum tube and repair your radio or, later, your TV. Pitcher tubes were the olden times equivalent of today's blue screen of death.

Damn I remember my dad putting tubes in our television and radios.

He was a forward artillary observer during WW2 and knew the insides and outsides of just about any radio we ever had.
